- Support senior attorneys in courtroom proceedings, including hearings, motions, and trials. Assist in presenting legal arguments, examining witnesses, and introducing evidence to build a compelling defense for clients.
- Organize and manage voluminous case documents, medical records, and evidentiary materials. Implement efficient document review processes to streamline case preparation and enhance overall litigation strategy.
- Work closely with medical experts, consultants, and expert witnesses to strengthen the defense's medical and scientific aspects. Coordinate the integration of expert opinions into legal strategies to bolster the credibility of the defense.
- Engage in settlement negotiations under the guidance of senior attorneys, collaborating with opposing counsel to explore favorable resolutions when appropriate. Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of cases to provide informed recommendations on settlement options, always prioritizing the best interests of clients.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and admission to the CA state bar.
- 2-5 years of experience with a background and experience in medical malpractice defense. A proven track record of handling cases related to healthcare litigation, with a deep understanding of medical terminology, procedures, and standards of care.
- Exhibit strong legal research capabilities and excellent writing skills. The ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs, is crucial for effective representation in medical malpractice cases.
- Demonstrate experience in all phases of litigation, from case initiation through discovery, motion practice, and trial. Prior courtroom experience, including conducting depositions and arguing motions, is highly desirable.
- Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with clients, expert witnesses, and colleagues. The ability to convey complex legal concepts in a comprehensible manner and maintain positive client relationships is essential.
