Description

The Manager, Advancement Database & Operations develops and executes forward-thinking database and operational strategies to enhance the Hammer Museum's fundraising efforts.

This position ensures accuracy, up to the minute reliability, and effective utilization of all donor and Advancement Team records in hard copy and electronically/stored in a database.

This position is responsible for data entry, maintenance, and gift processing; optimizing usage of the development database system, Raiser's Edge (RE); regular and ad-hoc reporting; and reconciling contributed income with the Finance Department through Financial Edge (FE).

Responsibilities also include conceiving and implementing RE-based systems for donor prospect management and stewardship. Incumbent is responsible for all development revenue documentation required for annual audit.

Directly support the frontline activity of the Chief Development Officer, Deputy Director, External Affairs, Museum Director, as well as the activity of individual giving, annual giving, and membership teams.

Provide the analysis, reporting, data entry, processing, and other operational support required to for an Advancement Team generating in excess of $15 million support annually.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in art museum, arts related organization, nonprofit organization, or institution of higher learning (required)
  • A successful record of demonstrable accomplishments in database management/analytics and advancement operations in a highperforming fundraising team within a competitive philanthropic environment. (required)
  • Working knowledge of professional fundraising best practices and standards for donor information management and IRS requirements in posting and acknowledging gifts. (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement data management and data mining strategies to realize long range objectives through tactical planning and to serve a range of needs, users, and purposes. (required)
  • Robust understanding of philanthropic communities focused on arts, culture, education, social change, and other areas that connect with Hammer's mission. (preferred)
  • Background and passion for contemporary art, museums, culture, and social change. (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to support fundraising operations including the ability to plan, budget, analyze, and respond to variances impacting the financial plan. (required)
  • Experience with other Blackbaud databases and Crystal Reports strongly preferred. (preferred)
  • Demonstrated skill in communicating professionally and effectively with all levels of Museum and University staff to respond to needs, determine priorities, and manage expectations; ability to write effective correspondence, analytical reports, and qualitative data analysis as well as generate grant and gift reporting. (required)
  • Ability to prioritize and adjust heavy workload, manage a variety of tasks, and meet various deadlines. Ability to delegate authority combined with willingness to work in a "hands on" manner and as part of a team. (required)
