    Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Manager Strategic Planning 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Autonomous ISR and Targeting organization.

    This leadership role is located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.


    This position plays a critical role driving the Operating Unit long-term growth in domestic and international markets with a focus on autonomous aircraft.

    The selected candidate will be responsible for leading a portfolio of captures, and will work closely with the AISR&T VP and Programs Managers, a broader support team of subject matter experts from the NGC organization, external consultants, and Northrop Grumman business development resources to ensure achievement of near and long-term strategic growth objectives for the Operating Unit.


    Essential Responsibilities:
    Business Unit lead for strategy, capture, and investments

    Develop and implement BU capture and investment strategy, combining external market and customer analysis with internal pipeline and technology roadmaps, to maintain a consistent long-range strategic plan

    Understand the customer marketplace, stakeholder customer organizations and budgets to identify market drivers and trends and develop strategies

    Maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and functional organizations involved in program capture


    Development and management of CAPEX and NCTA investment capture project funds, schedule, and execution of BU investment plan to ensure cost and schedule and advocate with Division and Sector for shortfalls, as needed .

    Support the fiscal management of capture budgets, to include resource prioritization

    Lead team of capture managers in integrated capture and campaign plans focusing on stakeholder influencing and message shaping; competitive analysis and price-to-win; business case and offer strategy; and offset as applicable

    Partner with Sector and Division Strategy and Growth team for customer influence, pipeline evaluation, strategic gap analysis, and other larger initiatives

    Exceptional leadership, collaboration, communication, and team building skills. Lead with thought leadership emphasis in the development and execution of franchise and individual capture strategies

    Develop clear and concise Win Themes and Value Propositions for the capture

    Coordinate and collaborate with line of business management, strategy, business and finance, contracts and global supply chain, technology and engineering offices and functions

    Lead monthly capture health assessment and capture gate reviews leveraging Customer Relationships Management (CRM) tools (e.g., Salesforce) while following the process standards of the Northrop Grumman Business Acquisition Process (BAP)

    Basic Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree and 10 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master's degree and 8 years of related professional/military experience, OR a PhD and 6 years of related professional/military experience

    Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

    Ability to obtain and maintain special program access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the needs of the business

    Experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers

    Demonstrated people leadership skills and the ability to lead effectively in a diverse team environment

    Proven ability to provide independent critical assessments, that ultimately result in better outcomes for the enterprise

    Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary business development, strategy development activities

    Experience building strong customer relationships

    Preferred Qualifications

    Active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance

    Technical and/or Leadership/Management-focused master's degree

    15 years of industry experience in capture leadership, business development, and/or program management

    Direct capture experience within the Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems

    Direct capture experience with US Navy and/or International acquisitions

    Experience w/ Agile for Business tools such as Jira (Kanban) and Confluence

    Salary Range:
    $164,300 - $246,500


    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

    In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
