Supervising Environmental Health Specialist - San Bernardino, United States - San Bernardino County (CA)
Description
The DepartmentPublic Health (DPH)is recruiting for Supervising Environmental Health Specialists who plan, supervise, and coordinate the activities of a group of environmental specialists, as well as technical and clerical personnel engaged in a specialized Environmental Health Services (EHS) program, such as Food Protection, Recreational Health, Insect and Rodent Vector Control, Water and Wastewater, and Waste Management.
Positions may be assigned to district offices located in San Bernardino, Hesperia, or Rancho Cucamonga.For more detailed information, refer to the Supervising Environmental Health Specialist job description.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Work Assignment:
Applicants must indicate willingness to accept work assignments in all of the following areas:Rancho Cucamonga, Hesperia, and San Bernardino in order to be eligible for these positions.
Work Schedule:
May be required to work some evenings, weekends, and on-call.
Physical:
May be required to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, or hike, when necessary, during the investigation process.
Travel/License:
Travel throughout the county is required to attend meetings and perform field duties as necessary.
Employees will be required to make provision for transportation and may be required to use personal vehicles (mileage reimbursement is available).
At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.
Pre-Employment Process:
Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.

Certification:
Possess and maintain a valid certificate of registration as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) issued by the State of California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
The lead/supervisory experience may run concurrently with the journey-level REHS experience.
Experience asa Trainee is not considered qualifying, and should be clearly separated from journey-level REHS experience on the Application and Supplemental Questionnaire.)
