Professional Job Description:
The LSU Library seeks a hard-working and committed addition to our technology support team.

This position will help ensure the successful installation and maintenance of the digital infrastructure to support technology services used by LSU Library faculty, staff, and patrons.

Responsibilities include installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware and software as well as user support for over 150 computers and peripherals.

Provides user assistance for computer hardware and software programs such as Microsoft Office, Adobe products, open-source software, and library-related software such as Aeon, ILLiad and Connexion.

Maintains an organized inventory. Maintains an accurate system to allow for the checkout of equipment such as laptops, projectors, sound equipment. Collaborates and works with other libraries technology groups as needed. May be on-call on rare occasions.

Responsibilities Include:

Provide prompt, courteous, and committed customer support to library faculty and staff.

Troubleshoot issues, solve and communicate solutions to faculty and staff either in-person, through email, through messaging applications, or through the library's ticketing system to ensure faculty and staff are able to complete their work with minimal downtime from technical difficulties.

The analyst will assist users with common issues such as:

problems logging into a computer, networking difficulties, remote connectivity issues, software application usage issue, cloud storage problems, computer hardware related issues, etc.

Install, configure, and deploy new computers to replace out-of-warranty machines. Update existing computers to replace older, less-performant machines. This will involve skills such as building computers, and replacing computer parts such as memory, storage drives, and monitors.

Troubleshoot, configure and repair library technology equipment including faculty, staff, and patron computer peripheral equipment such as printers, audio visual equipment, scanners.

This will involve communicating with outside vendors and service providers.

Assist with Web Development team with implementation of web based projects as needed.

Provide maintenance for all deployed software. This includes upgrading existing software, installing new software when necessary and troubleshooting and correcting software issues.

Updates and verifies computer inventory.

This includes organizing inventory equipment and updating inventory records to keep track of deployed systems as well as creating surplus documentation to surplus outdated and broken equipment.

Create and manage library support documentation. This includes documents that detail investigative and troubleshooting methods and solution procedures.

In addition, create tutorials designed for library faculty and staff to guide them through common tasks such as, how to use the library cloud storage device and how to connect to a managed copier.
