    Description

    We are seeking a Sushi Cook apprentice to join our cozy Omakase Room in Midtown Manhattan and craft mouthwatering sushi for our patrons.

    As a Sushi Cook, you'll handle a variety of fresh fish and ingredients, manage food inventory, and meticulously fulfill orders to meet our high standards. To excel in this position, you should have a background in Japanese cuisine and be willing to work during our operating hours. Your contribution will play a key role in maintaining our reputation and attracting more customers.

    Responsibilities
    • Prepare traditional Japanese sushi rice
    • Expertly cut, slice, and fillet a variety of fish types, and place supply orders when necessary
    • Collaborate with our serving staff to ensure accurate preparation, catering to special requests and dietary restrictions
    • Check the quality of fruits, vegetables, and fish for sushi, alerting the Executive Chef to any subpar items
    • Create diverse sushi dishes following quality, portion, presentation, and safety guidelines
    • Maintain a sanitary workspace to prevent food contamination
    • Regularly manage food and product inventory
    • Report any kitchen equipment issues to the on-duty manager
    • Sterilize all utensils, instruments, and equipment before sushi preparation
    • Communicate with serving staff to fulfill special requests and accommodate food allergies
    Requirements
    • Experience as a Sushi Cook in a Japanese eatery
    • Familiarity with sushi varieties and Japanese rice cooking techniques
    • Ability to work swiftly and precisely
    • Strong team player
    • Flexible schedule to work during business hours, weekends, and evenings
    • Proven track record in high-end sushi establishments
    • Valid food handler's certification
    • Thorough understanding of food safety standards
    • Capability to thrive under pressure
    • Ability to stand for extended periods
    • Outstanding time-management abilities
    • Exceptional customer service aptitude
