This position offers the option to work up to 100% remotely and is headquartered at our downtown Madison location (201 E. Washington Ave.). Occasional in-person time may be required based on business needs.

Position Summary:


This advanced-level IT position will:

  • Provide advancedlevel technical expertise, analysis, and support of the acquisition of hardware, software, professional services, maintenance, products and services.
  • Procure information technology hardware, software and support systems.
  • Work with vendors, external consultants, and other agencies to research options, negotiate, procure, and coordinate the ongoing support for technologies.
  • Prepare cost/benefit analyses for management review.
  • Coordinate, monitor and lead the procurement and license tracking and compliance of IT acquisitions.

Salary Information:

Starting pay is between $87,360 and $95,680 per year, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits.

The classification title for this position is IS Technical Services Specialist (schedule 07, range 33). A 12-month probationary period will be required.

This position is not represented in a collective bargaining unit and is considered exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of appointment. Starting pay may vary for current state employees.

Finalists for this position may be required to allow DWD to conduct a background check or other checks to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

Eligibility to work in United States: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e. a US citizen or national or a lawful permanent resident) at the time of appointment. DWD does not sponsor visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. This is not a contract position. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.


Qualifications:


Qualifications marked with an asterisk () below will be evaluated in the first step of the selection process. Additional qualifications may be evaluated in subsequent steps.

You
need to have the following experience:


  • Working with IT vendors and/or resellers requesting quotes for products and services.
  • Creating requisitions and reconciling invoices related for IT acquisitions.
  • Documenting IT acquisitions.
  • Prioritizing competing tasks and projects to ensure quality and timeliness.
  • Communicating and relating interpersonally with other to ensure that customer needs are met.
Any of the following would be
nice to have:

  • Experience in software licensing (e.g. licensing models, license types, vendor licensing policies, license management tools, etc.).
  • Experience negotiating IT terms or contracts, particularly with the State of Wisconsin.
  • Leading IT acquisitions projects.
