    Senior Development Accountant

    Job Description for the Senior Development Accountant:

    As a Senior Development Accountant, you will hold a pivotal position overseeing the financial intricacies of multi-family real estate development projects. Your duties will include meticulously tracking and reporting project expenses, conducting budget analyses, preparing comprehensive financial statements, and ensuring strict financial adherence throughout the development lifecycle. This role requires adeptness in navigating a fast-paced, high-volume transactional setting, underscoring the importance of robust time management capabilities and the adeptness to prioritize deadlines effectively. We are in search of a proactive, detail-oriented professional who flourishes in a collaborative atmosphere and is enthusiastic about making meaningful contributions to our expanding team.

    Key Responsibilities of the Senior Development Accountant:

    • Utilize a strong understanding of real estate development processes, accounting principles, and financial analysis.
    • Exhibit attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, and effective teamwork.
    • Take ownership of monitoring the timely submission of draw packages to lenders, facilitating a smooth financing process.


    What will you do as the Senior Development Accountant:

    • Process, track, and submit development draw requests for multiple projects, ensuring vendors are paid promptly.
    • Conduct monthly financial close, including preparing financial statement packages for multiple development projects.
    • Ensure the accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and internal policies.
    • Prepare monthly reports and revise budgets as necessary.
    • Monitor receipt of lender and equity funding.
    • Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Handle monthly development accruals and provide accurate cost information for development valuations.
    • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
    • Prepare audit/tax schedules as required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    Position Requirements of the Senior Development Accountant:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required.
    • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience handling real estate development projects.
    • Experience in preparation of construction draws.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of job costs, real estate accounting principles, and GAAP.
    • Proficiency in real estate accounting software such as Yardi or RealPage.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Highly organized with strong multitasking abilities.
    • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
    • Commitment to task completion and attention to detail.
    • Experience with construction pay applications and general ledger functions.
    • Experience managing closings on property transactions.
    • Strong ability to reconcile accounts, and expenses, perform various analyses, and generate reports.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
