    Description
    SENIOR DEVELOPMENT ACCOUNTANT

    This individual will be responsible for managing the financial aspects related to multi-family real estate development projects. This role is responsible for tracking and reporting project expenses, analyzing budgets, preparing financial statements, and ensuring financial compliance throughout the development process. To be successful in this role, candidates must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced/high-volume transaction environment, which requires strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize deadlines. We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who wants to be part of a growing team.

    A successful Senior Development Accountant is expected to:
    • Have a strong understanding of real estate development processes, accounting principles, and financial analysis
    • Possess attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team
    • Take charge of monitoring the timely submission of draw packages to lenders, ensuring a smooth financing process
    Job Duties:
    • Process, track, and submit development draw requests for multiple projects while ensuring that vendors are paid in a timely manner
    • Responsible for monthly financial close, including financial statement package preparation for multiple development projects
    • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies
    • Prepare monthly reports and budget revisions as needed
    • Monitor receipt of lender and equity funding
    • Complete bank reconciliations
    • Complete balance sheet reconciliations
    • Responsible for monthly development accruals and providing accurate cost information for development valuations
    • Support month-end and year-end close process
    • Prepare audit/tax schedules as required
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    Requirements

    Position Requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
    • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience handling real estate development projects
    • Experience in preparation of construction draws
    • Demonstrated knowledge of job costs, real estate accounting principles and GAAP accounting principles
    • Experience using real estate accounting software such as RealPage or Yardi
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Highly organized and strong ability to multi-task
    • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to follow through on tasks until completed
    • Detail-oriented mindset and able to meet deadlines
    • Experience with construction pay applications
    • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
    • Experience managing closings on property transactions
    • Strong ability to reconcile accounts, expenses, perform various analyses, and monthly/quarterly reports, with excellent attention to detail
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
