Job Summary

Leads the identification, implementation, and improvement of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities

Leads the work for specific projects to create and implement all aspects of a manufacturing processes to ensure safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are met.
Leads by applying the knowledge or use of manufacturing principles and practices to improve manufacturing equipment and processes.
Impacts the work by utilizing continuous improvement tools, following the Cummins standards, and leading the development of manufacturing standards and working methods. Determines and balances operational resources with customer demand and production schedules, develops standard operation times, conducts time studies.
Leads the communications with and influences key external stakeholders, business leaders, and functional members.
Works with internal and external resources on specific project assignments.
Maintains relationships and coaches key stakeholders.
Provides ergonomic assessments of current and future processes/applications.
Develops procedures and plant arrangements to ensure proper material handling and storage.
Performing (process) failure modes and effects analysis ((P)FMEA), KPI tracking, job safety analysis (JSA), Develop design-for-manufacturing criteria (DFM) and process capability expertise to provide input to future product and process design activities etc.
Ensure the process is operational and capable of meeting the needs of the business. Ensure users of the process are trained and capable.
Ensure key process indicators are visible to the right stakeholders and that process performance is clearly communicated.
Evaluates and recommends vendors, material, and equipment for changes to manufacturing processes with justification and ROI analysis.
Lead and/or sponsor improvement work that improves the capability of the process and define a roadmap for future improvement.
Specify, cost justify, design, develop and test various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods; and/or oversee the sourcing thereof.
Maintain a strong working knowledge in the safe operating procedures for compressed natural gas and the various compliance requirements affiliated with CNG fuel systems.

Manufacturing Analysis Led Design - Uses digital tools to model and simulate manufacturing processes, equipment and performance to make data driven decisions before changes are made and to drive continuous improvements.
Manufacturing Prognostics - Applies prognostics techniques by collecting real time equipment conditions and then use advanced analytics and artificial intelligence technologies to project future failures to eliminate unplanned equipment and systems down time.
Data Mining - Extracts insights from data by identifying relationships and patterns through use of a suite of data exploration and data visualization techniques to understand the underlying structure of the data and enable sound conclusions upon model building.
Measurement Science - Analyzes measurement processes throughout the relevant traceability chain to identify and quantify sources of measurement uncertainty relevant to the appropriate applied measurement science, "Metrology" e.g. Chemical, Dimensional, Electrical, Mechanical, Optical and Radiation and Physical.
Drawing Interpretation - Integrates product design and manufacturing equipment engineering drawings to support the design and development of an optimal manufacturing process that meets product design specifications.
Time Studies – Develops plan for and conducts time studies of all manufacturing operations; analyses the data, identifies bottlenecks and utilizes Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies to eliminate waste and improve operational efficiencies and product quality
Process Documentation - Produces written manufacturing procedures in proper sequence which are followed correctly by all approved stakeholders to establish continuity in processes and standardization.
Tool and Fixture Design - Selects and implements proper torque tools and work-piece-holding devices capable of effectively holding parts and products during a manufacturing process to secure their position to meet functional requirements.

Education and/or ExperienceCollege, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.Additional Information
