    POSITION OVERVIEW

    Republic Manufacturing, a leading industrial pump and blower manufacturer headquartered in Dallas, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who works on-site with various departments on critical product and process improvements. The position works closely with company leaders to complete new projects that include: re-engineering projects, cost-reduction projects, product improvement projects, and strategic company-wide initiatives. Most projects will require collaboration with personnel and leadership beyond Engineering and Product Management, including but not limited to Sales, Marketing, Finance, Manufacturing, Production & Planning, and Procurement. This position reports to the VP of Engineering and Product Development.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Work with the engineering and product team to improve existing product lines by reducing COGS and helping reduce variability
    • Lead DFMA analyses and initiatives to streamline the manufacturing process for core product lines
    • Identify cost reduction opportunities and lead projects with various departments in order to achieve bottom line targets
    • Work closely with the New Product Development and Engineering team to improve manufacturability of parts before market release
    • Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure that product variability is minimized during the manufacturing process
    • Work manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs
    • Provide with team members to optimize routing times for key products
    • Plan and coordinate engineering activities to develop and apply standardized design criteria and production requirements for design packages; including sheet metal assemblies, rotating equipment, and component manufacturing

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • >3 years of product design experience
    • >5years in a manufacturing environment
    • >4 years in a project leadership role, centered around making product improvements
    • Strong knowledge of Product Development best practices
    • Proven experience leading, implementing, and reporting on projects in a manufacturing environment
    • Project Management Certification (PMP or CAPM)
    • Leadership/Management Training or 2+ years or team leadership
    • Strong collaborative skills with a proven track record of cross-functional project management
    • Experience with Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Vault, or Epicor Kinetic ERP
    • Experience with rotating equipment technology
    • Experience with sheet metal fabrication processes, machining processes, welding processes, and assembly processes

    Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Bachelor's Degree (Four-Year) in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
    • >3 years in a manufacturing environment
    • >2 years in a project leadership role
    • Proficient in 3D Modeling Software (I.e., Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks)
    • Proficient at reading and understanding written processes, safety and work instructions, SOPs, etc.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal)
    • Affinity for working on a team and collaborating across the company
    • Strong problem-solving ability in resolving complex problems arising during the fabrication/manufacturing process
    • Integrity, trustworthiness, and being a driven individual are valued attributes

    Work Environment:

    This position is performed in a climate-controlled temperature environment for 75-90% of the week, the remaining time will be in a semi-outdoor production floor environment. This role will occasionally require a flexible work schedule to achieve objectives, but the typical expectation is 40-50 hours per week. Engineering and Product Development work in an open-office format where collaboration and teamwork are encouraged and expected.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
