    Job Description

    The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in overseeing nursing care provided by the nursing team and other personnel under their supervision.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assists the CNO in planning, coordinating, and supervising the activities of licensed and non-licensed staff.
    • Supports the development and implementation of nursing services, goals, policies, and procedures in alignment with Federal and State guidelines.
    • Shares in the responsibility of hiring Nursing Department personnel, conducting staff evaluations, and managing employee relations.
    • Contributes to maintaining a secure, organized, and healing environment for all patients.
    • Cultivates strong relationships with physicians, healthcare affiliates, patient facilities, and nursing team members.
    • Provides guidance to supervisors on staffing, issue resolution, and training.
    • Ensures adherence to quality assurance, safety, infection control, and environmental protocols per regulatory standards.
    • Generates reports, keeps records, compiles statistics, etc. as instructed by the CNO.
    • Promotes positive morale among staff through effective leadership, consultation, and communication.
    • Participates in investigating complaints and devising systems to address underlying issues.
    • Collaborates with the CNO to identify and rectify departmental shortcomings through corrective actions.
    • Supervises and coordinates the activities of licensed and unlicensed personnel within a unit, overseeing the quality and efficacy of care provided.
    • Coordinates the creation of educational, training, and research programs for nursing staff and engages in in-service training.
    • Contributes to setting standards of patient care, policies, and objectives within the nursing department and communicates these to staff, patients, families, and the community.

    Requirements

    • Active Nevada State RN License
    • ADN/BSN degree or equivalent is preferred
    • Demonstrates strong leadership abilities
    • Capable of managing activities and schedules for medical and non-medical tasks for patients
    • Adept at handling acute psychotic and non-violent crises using recognized intervention methods
    • Familiarity with psychopharmacology and the use of psychotropic medications in child, adolescent, or adult psychiatric populations is desirable
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
