    Description

    Welcome to the job description for the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at Desert Parkway.

    The ADON works closely with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to oversee the nursing care provided by the nursing staff and other team members under their purview.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assisting the CNO in planning, developing, and supervising the activities of both licensed and non-licensed personnel.
    • Aiding in the development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies, and procedures in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
    • Sharing the responsibility for selecting Nursing Department staff, conducting employee evaluations, and handling employee relations.
    • Contributing to maintaining a safe, organized, and therapeutic environment for all patients.
    • Building and sustaining effective relationships with physicians, health professionals, patient facilities, and nursing staff.
    • Providing guidance to supervisors on staffing, issue resolution, and training.
    • Ensuring adherence to quality assurance, safety, infection control, and environmental protocols as per regulatory standards.
    • Compiling reports, maintaining records, and preparing statistics as directed by the CNO.
    • Promoting high morale among staff through effective leadership, consultation, and communication.
    • Participating in complaint investigations and assisting in the development of monitoring systems to address concerns.
    • Collaborating with the CNO to identify and rectify departmental shortcomings with corrective action plans.
    • Supervising and coordinating the work of both licensed and unlicensed personnel within a unit to ensure quality care.
    • Overseeing the development of education, training, and research programs for nursing personnel.
    • Participating in establishing patient care standards, policies, and objectives within the nursing department.

    Requirements

    • Must hold a current Nevada State RN License.
    • ADN/BSN or equivalent qualifications are preferred.
    • Should demonstrate strong leadership abilities.
    • Must possess organizational skills to manage medical and non-medical tasks for patients.
    • Ability to handle acute crises using accepted intervention techniques.
    • Experience with psychopharmacology and psychotropic medications in psychiatric populations is advantageous.
    • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
