    Role Overview

The Search and Discovery Product Team is responsible for creating a world class search and discovery shopping experience for our customers, from "intent" based shopping to delighting the customer with serendipitous product discovery on every visit. We are obsessed with optimizing the entire search customer journey, from query understanding and search relevance to personalized and category/mission aware search and recommendation experiences. We believe the experience of finding the right fresh groceries delivered to your door the next morning should be personal and different from shopping for a new laptop or your next pair of jeans.

    What you will do

With the latest advances in AI/ML, we can rethink the traditional search stack to deliver unique high-quality experiences to our customers that were traditionally outside the realm of possibility. This Product Analysis manager role will contribute to the AI/ML transition by providing a vision and roadmap for Product Analysts who act as a "customer in the room". This role is responsible for training and mentoring the PAs to go deeply to define the problems and provide quality examples of such problems. This role would manage ~10 Product Analysts located on the West Coast.

    What Product Analysts do

The Product Analysts work directly with an engineering pod, a small group including Product Manager, Data Analyst, and many engineers located on the West Coast. (Mountain View, CA, or Seattle, WA). Many times, they collaborate with the S&D team members in the Asia time zone. The Product Analysts are responsible for establishing problem statement for the engineering pod, by diving deep into Coupang's search experience and identifying a gap between what the search result of a specific query shows and what must be shown to satisfy customer's true intent.

    Responsibilities

    · Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the growth of the Product Analyst group while directing day-to-day execution towards that vision

    · Create structured analysis template that makes it super easy to capture and process insights for some of bespoke analysis our teams do could be an additional required skill. · Regularly review analysis of PAs and proactively seek out insights to uplift the PA's contribution for each engineering pod

    · Demonstrate ability to connect experiences to new/existing product backlog features

    · Collaborate with larger search team to drive seamless vertical experiences across

    · Effectively communicate, collaborate and drive alignment on prioritization, resource planning, and process improvement with a variety of stakeholders including senior executives

    · Champion to educate the Search and Discovery team to understand customer's pain points by bringing customer voice in the discussion (E.g. what is a customer expecting to see when they search for Kimchi – 5 kg pack or 1 kg or 200 kg based on cultural context on what's typical consumption of kimchi for a standard family.)

    · Champion to bring the outside-in perspective to the Search and Discovery team: benchmark superior customer experiences on other competing eCommerce app and/or the latest trend in Korean market · Learn functions of each layer of the search systems, not limited to the algorithms of scorers, usage of search fields and parameters

    Qualifications

    · Experience in mentoring her/his team members to the next level as direct manager.

    · 3+ years of people management experience (E.g. have regular 1on1 meetings, officially conduct the performance evaluation)

    · 6+ years of product-driven and/or customer representation roles

    · Perfect bilingual in English and Korean

    · Exceptionally strong written and verbal communications and public speech

    · Customer Advocate with strong empathy to customers and to improved experience. No empathy towards bad experiences or factors driving bad experiences. Both powered from the context of Coupang customers and Korean eCommerce shoppers (Hands-on experience in shopping via Coupang app/web is must.)

    · Proven ability to deliver results in an extremely fast-paced, goal-oriented, and ever-changing environment

    · Strong data-driven problem solver who voluntarily asking why until fully understanding the root causes (E.g. asking 5 whys)

    · Fluent in Microsoft Excel (E.g. VLOOKUP function, pivot table analysis)

    Preferred

    · Ability to understand technical challenges and make educated trade-offs

    · Ability to think out-of-box to solve problems by breaking traditional tradeoffs

    · Ability to work well collaboratively and under pressure.

    · Detail-oriented and ability to complete work assignments with a high degree of quality
