Role Summary

CARIAD's software-defined vehicle (SDV) unit - the CARIAD SDV Hub, based in Silicon Valley, is on a mission to rebuild the entire vehicle software and technology stack from the ground up.

This new architecture will power millions of Volkswagen Group's family of vehicles worldwide. We are building up the team in Mountain View, California that will help shape the mobility future.

As Principal UI/UX Designer for Mapping and Navigation, you will work with product, engineering, and external partners to define and design the user experience for our in-vehicle navigation app.

This role requires the ability to uncover current and future user needs and help define the product roadmap.

You will design how our cloud-enabled vehicles can help our customers discover their next adventure and safely guide them there while ensuring they have enough range to make it back without stress.

In addition to doing a lot of the main architectural design work, you will build and lead a team that will enhance and extend these features for future generations of vehicles.

Role Responsibilities**
UX Design Leadership & Product Strategy:

Lead UX Design
Responsible for the end
to
end design experience across number of SDV features.
Build consensus through a collaborative environment for sharing ideas and feedback.
Plan and facilitate problem identification and solutioning workshops and champion design thinking sessions with crossfunctional teams and senior leadership to validate user needs and define proposed experiences.
Use client/market research, user feedback, usage, and competitive analysis to identify unmet market needs
Present and communicate end
to

end designs across departments and stakeholders.

Establishing bestinclass experience capabilities in Design, Research, Accessibility, brand language and voice, and more.

Lead the creation and evolution of a design system.

Years of Experience

10+ years of experience in UX Design

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Desired Education

Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Skills:

Effectively work across multiple business units, matrixed environments in influencing and establishing agile vision, standards and policies, coordinating the delivery of multiple projects.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain IT concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to the IT organization.
Track record managing multiple, complex projects with plans that account for priorities, interdependencies, risks, and backup plans
Ability to analyze and think quickly and to resolve conflict
Experience with successful Agile techniques
Ability to adapt to a changing environment
Selfmotivation and ability to stay focused amid distraction
Ability to work in fastpaced environments and adapt quickly
Deep understanding of current and emerging processes and technologies and how other enterprises are employing them to drive business to be agile and transparent.

Required Skills:

Experience designing across multiple platforms, working with technical/engineering teams to create user flows and wireframes, and building UI mockups and prototypes.
Experience leading strategic planning initiatives
Experience working in fastpaced, technical environments

Desired Skills

7 years of experience leading design projects
3 years of experience working with executive leaders
Experience with designing in partnership with SDV engineering organization.
Experience with designing invehicle experiences
Experience with or understanding of mapping, navigation, search, and EV charging
Successfully delivered impactful designs that have shipped to end customers

Compensation
Salary range is dependent on factors such as geographical differentials, credentials or certifications, industry-based experience, qualification and training. In the city of Mountain View, California, the salary range for this position is $154,100 - $235,0
