    Librarian/Specialist II - Schomburg Center (Part Time/Temporary)



    About the Job:
    If you're passionate about African American history and culture, this part-time temporary position as a Librarian/Specialist II at the Schomburg Center could be the perfect opportunity for you to contribute to the preservation and study of rich materials related to African American, African Diaspora, and African experiences. As part of the esteemed Schomburg Center, you'll be providing essential reference services across various research divisions, engaging with the public and research community, and contributing to the dissemination of black history and arts.



    Responsibilities:

    • Provide onsite and remote reference services with expertise in Black history and culture
    • Offer in-depth research assistance through personalized consultations
    • Engage in outreach activities and maintain educational materials
    • Continuously develop professionally and contribute to the library's operations
    • Other duties as necessary

    Required Education, Experience & Skills:

    • Master's degree in library, archival, or information studies
    • Experience in library or archive settings

    • Knowledge of African American, African, and African diasporan history
    • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
    • Digital literacy and ability to work independently or collaboratively


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with emerging library technologies and programming trends preferred
