Description
SUMMARY
The Quality Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of the quality department facilitating efficient manufacturing operations across the organization.
This critical position is an on-site strategic and hands-on senior leadership role.JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervisory responsibilities:
recruit, interview, hire, and train new department staff; direct daily workflow: provide timely and constructive performance evaluations; handle corrective actions and employment terminations in accordance with company policy and procedure.
Company point-of-contact for direct and indirect customer interactions.Partner with the senior leadership team to assess and set department initiatives in alignment with the company's strategic plans.
Ensure compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and guidelines, including EPA and OSHA/MIOSHA requirements.
Responsible for internal and external auditing processes and companywide compliance with integrated
ISO:
9001 and IATF 16949 standards and customer requirements.
Maintain quality control processes and activities, in correlation with production, to maximize product repeatability, traceability, and accountability, and minimize unexpected costs.
Identify cost savings opportunities through continuous improvement initiatives and activities.Develop and coach team driving engagement and ensure current and future staffing level needs.
Track and maintain meaningful key performance indicators to measure achievements and corrective action opportunities and promote accountable practices.
Other special projects and duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and customer service skills
Sound Lean Six Sigma approach and methods.
Exhibits excellent work ethic with a lead-by-example approach.
A high level of attention to detail, time management, and follow-through skills.
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and ERP (Plex preferred).
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
May be required to sit for prolonged periods at a desk working on a computer; stand for extended periods of time; kneel or crouch; reach with hands and arms, use fingers to handle/feel objects, tools, or controls; and lift or move to 25 lbs.
Strong specific vision abilities may be required by this job including close/distance, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field plus a minimum of five years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
