    Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in STEM ( SACNAS) is the largest multicultural and multidisciplinary STEM diversity organization in the country. SACNAS is an inclusive organization dedicated to fostering the success of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans, from college students to professionals, in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership in STEM. SACNAS serves over 10,000 members and has over 144 student and professional chapters throughout the United States and its territories. SACNAS influences a larger STEM community of over 25,000 through outreach, advocacy, and production of the National Diversity in STEM Conference.

    The Programs Coordinator is a position within the SACNAS Programs Department. The coordinator will assist with projects assigned by the Program Division. The program coordinator will support internal program logistics and assist with external communication regarding SACNAS programs. The Programs Coordinator reports to the Associate Director, Programs. This is a full-time, non-exempt position, which can be performed remotely.

    THE JOB

    • Work with Associate Director of Programs, Programs Managers, and Coordinators to support in-person and virtual programs aimed at an audience of STEM professionals.
    • Provide logistical support for the Programs department at the conference and throughout the program year.
    • Coordinate webinars (set up, SOPs, logistics), maintain a webinar dashboard, and perform survey data collection and analysis.
    • Work with the Programs team on maintaining operational plans and updating information.
    • Coordinate, participate, and provide logistical support for virtual and in-person programs, including leadership institutes, workshops, and conversations with scientists.
    • Assist with maintaining a metrics dashboard and data collection for all SACNAS programs.
    • Assist with financial reconciliation of SACNAS programs.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • 1+ years of relevant professional experience; OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
    • Experience working with Native Americans, Chicanos/Hispanics, or other underrepresented minority populations.
    • Experience supporting nonprofit executives and Board committees in the organization and coordination of meetings, initiatives, and projects.

    • Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to meet deadlines, and to help others meet their deadlines.
    • Well-developed computer and office skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher), familiarity with database software, experience with Smartsheet, and ability to take clear and thorough notes while participating in meetings.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy as it relates to data entry and program implementation.
    • Knowledgeable about and experience working with undergraduates, graduates, post-doctorates, and professionals.
    • Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to embrace and incorporate direct feedback.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to analyze data and make solid recommendations for improved strategy.
    • Ability to succeed and enjoy working in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment with a proven skill set utilizing sound judgment, creativity, and effective time management solutions.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality around sensitive and complex relationships and projects.

    Work Location and Travel

    • Required travel to the annual conference and in-person year-round programs
    • Occasional work on evenings or weekends.

    Salary & Benefits

    • Salary: $55,651 annually or $26.75/hr
    • Health Insurance
    • SACNAS covers 90% of medical insurance monthly premiums for employees and 85% of medical insurance monthly premiums for dependents.

    • 0-2 years: 4.61 hours – 15 days
    • 3-8 years: 6.15 hours – 20 days
    • 9+ years: 7.69 hours – 25 days

    The salary range outlined above is for the state of California and represents the organization's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, and location.
