Description
Position Summary:
A full-time postdoctoral research fellow position is available at the Department of Plant Sciences at North Dakota State University (NDSU), Fargo.
The successful candidate will work in the USDA-ARS Fargo Genotyping Laboratory and should have experience in wheat genetics, wheat pathology, molecular genotyping, physical mapping, breeding/marker assisted selection, next-generation sequencing, and bioinformatics.
The candidate will work on developing and analyzing a pan-genome of wheat sources of resistance to Fusarium Head Blight (FHB).
The candidate will manage wheat lines under greenhouse and field conditions, cross wheat, assist in population development, screen wheat lines for resistance to FHB in the greenhouse, extract DNA/RNA, and prepare sequencing libraries.
The fellow will be highly active in the analysis of a large amount of sequencing data on High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters and work on methods to identify haplotypes that are associated with resistance to disease.
