The Role at a Glance

  • The Application Developer will be accountable for support and solutions development associated with Lincoln Financial Group's complex data systems, processes and associated back end interfaces. In this capacity, the analyst will work with stakeholders from the business and other IT areas to develop solutions to meet requirements for emerging enterprise initiatives.

  • Responsibilities

  • Design and develop technical solutions to a predefined requirement and data integration components
  • Develop understanding and expertise associated with Lincoln's Enterprise data model(s)
  • Collaborate with Lincoln's Data and Data Services Integration Analysts to design and implement enterprise solutions
  • Defines detailed development tasks and estimates to develop project plan
  • Analysis, design, coding, and testing highly efficient and highly scalable integration solutions using Lincoln's suite of integration products
  • Creation and/or modification of disaster recovery procedures


  • Technical

  • Strong programming background with Java, C#, Ruby, Python etc.
  • Demonstrated competence with shell scripting
  • Linux operating system familiarity
  • Experience/proficiency with relational database concepts
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert for the ETL processes with accountability for ensuring operational continuity and supportability and ongoing development
  • Complete coding and unit testing activities onschedule and per quality expectations
  • Follow documentation, version control, testing, and migration standards
  • Analyze problems and propose, present and propagate solutions or practices to meet architectural and technical challenges
  • Actively participate in integration, performance and functionality testing


  • Advising

  • Assist development staff in identifying and documenting test cases for unit and system testing
  • Provide coaching and knowledge transfer to team members
  • Assist in development of design of scheduling and sequencing of scripts

What we're looking for

  • Undergraduate degree and 4+ years of comparable work experience required
  • 3+ years of experience in Information Technology that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
  • Experience with the following technologies a plus: JavaScript, JSON, JAX-RS, Solr, Informatica
  • Excellent SQL skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team across multiple locations, selfstarter.
  • Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with enterprise job scheduling tools such as Autosys/Chronos/Stonebranch
  • Relational Database (Oracle, SQL Server, UDB and DB2) experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in database design, ETL techniques and data warehouse concepts is preferred
  • A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
  • Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions
  • Drives performance targets to completion
  • Good verbal and written communication
  • Ability to leverage information for decision making and to consult others where appropriate
  • Experience or knowledge of life insurance and financial services industry is a plus

    Pay Range: $77,000 $140,000


Actual base pay could vary based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role.
