The Role at a Glance


Lincoln Financial Group has an exciting role open for an Actuary, Life Valuation where you will play a significant role in the Corporate valuation team.

This is a visible role which will interact with key business partners. You will play an integral role in providing life reserving and reporting leadership to support key business objectives.


What you'll be doing

  • Perform valuation production process for life products (Universal Life, Combo products, Variable Life, Indexed UL)
  • Meet all deadlines and provides accurate information consistent with Stat, GAAP, and other professional requirements and standards
  • Provide specialized expertise and thought leadership to internal/external stakeholders for life valuation
  • Maintain knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends including regulatory changes for life valuation, assesses the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future strategies
  • Ensure that risks, exposure, and key business issues are identified, properly accounted for and resolved
  • Collaborate with key business/management stakeholders to drive the development and adoption of key financial decisions and risk management techniques for the enterprise
  • Support Finance by providing information and exhibits needed for financial reporting.
  • Lead regulator, internal and external auditor, and survey inquiries; promptly drives resolution
  • Participate in preparation of operational and risk management metric reports for analysis and presentations to management
  • Introduce and encourages innovation, improvements, and efficiencies where possible in the reserving/reporting processes
  • Collaborate heavily with financial and pricing leadership to effectively manage the Life product lines
  • Participate in review of life assumption development work
  • Establish business partnerships and alliances across the organization and industry; finds common interests and mutually beneficial grounds to help achieve business objectives

What we're looking for

  • 8+ years of increasing actuarial experience
  • FSA designation or ASA designation with substantial additional years of actuarial experience
  • Experience with Life products
  • Strong understanding of regulatory/accounting/capital frameworks (STAT/GAAP/Tax, RBC, EC)
  • Strong understanding of balance sheets, income statements, and financial projections
  • Confident, comfortable communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed, and logical discussions/presentations.
  • Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding.
  • Demonstrates strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a timesensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency with ALFA/AXIS or similar projection software systems is a plus
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint Undergraduate degree is required
