Position Summary

The Systems Administrator I - Server & Storage (SA-I-S&S) works under the direct supervision of a Systems Administrator II, and assists in the administration, implementation, maintenance, operation and security of core server operating systems, directory services, file and print services, email, and antivirus systems. The SA-I-S&S is knowledgeable of and executes processes and procedures for operation and maintenance of software and hardware-based components of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, Remote Desktop Services, and various monitoring, logging, and notification services. The SA-I-S&S assists in Server and Storage Services documentation and reporting, and performs other administrative tasks as assigned.

Pay Grade: 54

Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education

Minimum Qualifications

100% - 1. Three (3) years of experience as a system administrator; AND

2. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information technology, or closely related field; OR

3. An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.

4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.Assists with performing backup and recovery operations to ensure integrity and availability on an enterprise server and storage system.

2.Assists with performing maintenance to hardware and software to ensure proper functionality of an enterprise server and storage system.

3.Assists with establishing, reviewing, updating standards, and procedures to support a timely and effective work environment.

4.Assists in presenting to management recommendations related to purchasing and installing hardware, software, and network server technologies.

5.Utilizes tools effectively in problem analysis and performance evaluations.

6.Assists in R&D activities on new and evolving network server technologies.

7.Performs other related duties as required or directed.

KSA's

KSAs -

1.Knowledge of and some experience with enterprise-wide network server and directory services technologies, especially Microsoft Server 2008 and later, Microsoft AD, Exchange, LDAP, SMTP, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, etc.

2.Assist with solving incidents on an enterprise network server and storage system like vSphere, vCenter, and Veeam, Commvault, Backupify, and Nimble.

3.Knowledge of and experience in the planning, configuration, and support of network security technologies (Certificates, Anti-virus, Web & Email Filtering, etc.)

4.Knowledge of support of highly available network resource technologies (Virtualization, Storage, and Cloud Services, etc.)

5.Knowledge of and experience in maintaining network servers and service reference documentation.

6.Knowledge of OS platforms like Windows and Linux.

7.Assist with maintenance, upgrade, and replacement of virtual servers and storage devices.

8.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.

9.Ability to communicate clearly both orally and written.

10.Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-oriented work environment.
