    As part of our 21st Century Security vision, Lockheed Martin is investing in advancing multi-mission sensing capabilities.

    Our Converged Sensors team is part of Rotary & Mission Systems' (RMS) Enterprise Technologies (eTech) organization accelerating multi-mission aperture & multi-mission processing technologies through research, development, & demonstrations.

    Converged Sensor is partnered across multiple lines of business within RMS as well other Lockheed Martin Business Areas to transition these capabilities to new products & insertion opportunities.

    Who You Are


    Our team is seeking a game-changing ASIC & FPGA technical leader to help design, develop, & deliver enabling capabilities to lead Converged Sensor's firmware development team.

    In this role, you will serve as an architect on a product team identifying, prototyping, & deploying state-of-the-art Radio Frequency (RF) transceivers with high performance embedded processors into integrated system solutions.


    A level 5 employee is typically a subject matter expert and has 12 to 14+ years of professional experience.

    What You Will Do (The Work)

    • Collaborate across industry & internal stakeholders to develop concepts & roadmaps to drive future LM products
    • Define FPGA solutions & development efforts for firmware supporting RF transceivers, waveform generators, & digital signal processing pipelines
    • Engage across a crossfunctional organization to translate system level needs into digital architecture & requirements
    • Collaborate with product teams on embedded systems design for multinode, heterogeneous compute architecture focused on digital signal processing (DSP)
    • Own definition & development of Board Support Packages (BSP) to support RF transceiver & compute applications

    • This position requires an active or ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret security clearance.
    • This position also requires ability to support up to 10% travel.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent field
    • Minimum of 12+ years of relevant development experience
    • Minimum 3+ years in technical leadership roles
    • Prior FPGA architecture experience
    • Firmware implementation experience using VHDL &/or System Verilog
    • Deep understanding of how to realize DSP algorithms on FPGA devices efficiently
    • Prior experience integrating FPGAs with both RF & Digital I/O transceivers
    • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
    • Active or ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret security clearance
    • Ability to support up to 10% travel
    Desired Skills:

    • Master's degree or higher in relevant field
    • Familiarity with Software Defined Radios & VITA 49.2 standard
    • Familiarity with high level synthesis (HLS) tools & concepts
    • Experience with embedded software development
    • Prior experience in the defense industry or related field
    • Knowledge of Agile & DevSecOps methodologies
    Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

    Remote Telework:

    The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

    The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

    Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

    Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

    Pay Rate:


    The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $128,900 - $247,000 .

    Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

    Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.

    Non-represented full-time employees:

    accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays.

    Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.

    PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

    This position is incentive plan eligible.

    Pay Rate:


    The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $148,200 - $279,300.
