    Accounting Clerk

    Reports to: Director of Finance

    Location: 1603 Court Street, Syracuse NY 13208

    Full-Time: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm

    Non Exempt

Working closely with the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and the Office of Mental Health, we support 27 housing locations and 3 administrative buildings.

    About the Role

    We are looking for a proactive employee to be primarily responsible for processing the Agency's cash deposits and collections.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Maintain master check log file and backup documentation for all deposits received.
    • Enter all recurring monthly Level 2 Congregate Care Program Fees into accounts receivable at the start of the month.
    • Prepare, review, and verify invoices relative to participants' monthly Personal Needs Allowances (PNA) in accordance with OMH & OPWDD regulations and current system and generate monthly client invoices participant rosters for processing by accounts payable staff; coordinate with sites for check pickup on monthly basis.
    • Assist with annual Agency financial audit in assigned work areas.

    Education & Experience

    Associate's degree in Accounting or Business plus one year finance-related experience preferred; or three years' experience in a similar role plus High School Diploma or GED required.

    Scope of Responsibility:

    Use own experience and judgment to carry out the Agency mission and assist with the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department. Work must be performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, generally accepted accounting practices, and Agency policies. Prepares items in order of priority. Position involves access to confidential information that must be respected. Contact with the public is service-specific.

    Conditions of Employment

    Must be an effective communicator over the telephone and through written correspondence. Must have a valid NYS driver's license and transportation necessary to meet departmental needs. Must demonstrate ability to work effectively with people with disabilities. Must respect confidentiality. Work involves repetitive motion.
