    Description

    Position Summary:
    The Alzheimer's Association is working to address disparities in Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. The DEI Field Placement Intern will work alongside a dynamic team to increase the reach and impact of the Alzheimer's Association's Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter, particularly in care and support among communities disproportionately impacted by the disease (e.g. BIPOC and LGBTQ communities) in Boston and/or Lawrence.

    Responsibilities

    Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


    • Organize and deliver Programs and Services with particular focus on at-risk populations including but not limited to the Black/African American and Hispanic/Latinx populations offered through the Alzheimer's Association, which include: support groups,
    * educational programming,

    • Awareness presentations,
    * social engagement programming for people with early-stage dementia, and
    * other community events


    • Provide outreach and follow-up calls and emails to caregivers of at-risk populations including but not limited to the Black/African American and Hispanic/Latinx populations who have participated in the Dementia Care Coordination program or have attended Alzheimer's Association education programs and support groups.
    • Provide information and referral support by phone and email including: rapport-building, support, Alzheimer's and dementia education, and Association and community-based resource information
    • Document detailed constituent information in Personify, the Association's CRM (constituent relationship management system)
    • Triage callers to other staff in situations that exceed the Intern's knowledge, skills or availability
    • Lead and support projects to raise awareness of Alzheimer's and other dementia in underserved communities including:
    • Identifying community organizations with whom to partner
    • Conducting discovery meetings with potential partners
    • Planning a programs or events to raise awareness of Alzheimer's and other dementia in underserved communities
    • Collaborate with staff in the review and update of community resource listings
    Qualifications


    • Must be currently enrolled in MSW program, part-time or full-time
    • Bilingual; especially preferred would be Spanish/English or Haitian Creole/English
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


    • Familiarity with Hispanic/Latino culture
    • Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft, and video conferencing (i.e. Zoom, etc.)
    • Comfort with doing outreach in person and via phone, chat, Google Meet, etc.
    • Must have excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
    • General knowledge/interest in the Alzheimer's Association and Alzheimer's disease
    • Comfort with learning new software applications
