    Description

    Plural Publishing, Inc. publishes a range higher education books and media in the fields of the communication sciences and disorders and related disciplines. We are looking for a resourceful, smart and highly energetic candidate to work in a key supporting role in our marketing and sales department. As a small but growing company, our ideal candidate must be a confident, highly organized, self-starter with willingness to learn quickly and deliver what is required to help marketing and sales achieve aggressive growth goals.

    The Sales Assistant (SA) serves in an important support position on the marketing and sales team, performing tasks critical to academic textbook sales. The SA will develop a thorough understanding of the higher education market and of Plural's products. This position entails daily correspondence to college campuses and connecting with a variety of campus decision makers: instructors, department chairs, bookstore managers, etc., providing general support as needed. The SA will report to the Marketing Director, but also work closely with the Sales Manager and customer service team.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Understand the company's product lines to assist with instructor interest in adopting Plural's textbooks.
    • Manage sales support tasks, including confirming course details; researching professor contact information; validating professor teaching status; and maintaining accurate information in our Deep Dive database.
    • Assist with textbook sales activities to close pending adoptions, including regular follow-ups to instructors, upselling additional products, or presenting potential custom solutions to instructors.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with instructors and serve as contact for fulfilling instructor queries including ebook requests, companion site access, and tech or access issues.
    • Update and maintain customer database and adoption tracking database.
    • Assist Sales Manager with compiling and distributing the Bi-Monthly Adoption report.
    • Research and keep updated Deep Dives for special education, singing, and ASL/deaf education.
    • Provide customer feedback to key stakeholders in editorial, marketing, production and finance.
    • Prepare and send sales information kits and metadata updates to distributors on a monthly basis.
    • Create product records on Plural's website and online bookseller sites and keep updated with changes based on feedback from editorial and marketing.
    • Assist in deploying email marketing campaigns by tailoring email templates with features and benefits of our products specific to instructors' needs.
    • Assist with social media by curating content, designing graphics, and writing and scheduling posts.
    • Coordinate publicity including writing press releases, managing journal reviewer contacts and posting reviews online.
    • Prepare promotional collateral or materials as needed.

    Qualified candidates should possess the following:

    • Bachelor's degree with a minimum 1-2 years marketing or sales experience.
    • Superior problem-solving skills.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Professional demeanor along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
    • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel.
    • Knowledge of Canva or Photoshop highly desired.
    • A team player that can thrive in a small-office environment.

    Please Note:

    • Location: San Diego, CA. No relocation assistance available for this position
    • This is a full-time office-based position.

    Annual Salary: $39,500 to $45,000

    The stated salary reflects the range that Plural Publishing, Inc. reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual salary will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's education, experience, unique skills and abilities, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
