    PCCE- Drexel University (St. Christopher's Hospital)

    Christopher's Hospital is to provide a full range of high-quality healthcare services to all children and youth up to age 21 who seek their care or are referred to them.

    Another goal is to complement their mission with teaching and research programs that achieve excellence and support the Hospital's ability as a world-class children's hospital.

    The Hospital's long-term vision is to be the best children's medical center by attaining excellence in patient care, education, and research.

    A VISTA member can be a part of the solution by performing tasks and activities related to food access; expanding and strengthening partnerships and networks; outreach; technology use; and volunteer recruitment and management systems.

    This will impact the community and fulfill anti-poverty goals by helping to develop mutually beneficial partnerships between the hospital, campus, and community organizations, and foster the VISTA as a professional/emerging leader in the fields of community development and civic engagement.

    Member Duties :
    This is a Year 2 project.

    The Year 2 VISTA will build on the progress of the Year 1 VISTA to support food access for the families served by St.

    Christopher's Hospital.

    Through the recently completed community health needs assessment (CHNA) food insecurity was ranked as one of the most pressing challenges for families served by the Hospital.

    The VISTA will support efforts to develop and activate community resources for food security.

    This will include supporting the new Community Refrigerator at the Center for the Urban Child, the first of its kind at a children's hospital.

    Additional areas of support include supporting the annual St.

    Chris Carnival, the Hospital's summer meal distribution, and holiday food distributions, along with supporting Population Health on all food access and CHNA tracking and reporting.
