Leads projects to develop new and/or improve products to meet customer requirements and develops new technologies for continued Valiant growth and financial success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide technical leadership in the design and development of AL and related pumping systems. responsible for the design, integration, and compliance of the system to the design specifications
Perform detailed analysis relevant to electrical submersible and horizontal pumping systems and components, establish design practices and procedures
Develop and test new designs to implement new products or technologies into the product offerings when they prove financially beneficial to the immediate and long-term objectives of the organization
Manage expedited ECN's through the company department requirements and approval process to capitalize on business opportunities to quickly get new/modified products to customers that meet company quality and financial standards
Monitor Engineering Change Notices (ECN's), feedback from operations, failure analysis, warranty and sales request issues to identify potential product/technology improvement needs/opportunities; and collaborates with other business units to assess feasibility of new product/technology development projects
Collaborate with vendors to manufacture and procure prototype components to support cost effective sources of products that can enhance cost savings and enhance the company's product delivery capability
Collaborate with shop and lab personnel to assemble and test and improve prototype components or new processes for feasibility within the company
Provide technical support to manufacturing and sales units to assist with potential sales and enhanced production technologies to assess improvements and business opportunities
Routinely work with drafters/designers to produce and update engineering drawings to assure that drawings and work instructions are current and support effective manufacturing standards
Continuously define, revise and improve engineering processes for improved quality and efficiency in responding to internal and external customer needs (i.e. – reduce backlog and response time of ECN's, improved tracking of tasks, implementing Lean tools, etc.)
Comply with Company policy and procedures, whether written or communicated verbally, including the instructions and directions from individuals in direct supervisory positions
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Technology) or related technical field is required for this position
Certification on technical writing preferred
Must have and maintain a valid state driver's license
EXPERIENCE:
At least two years of Artificial Lift, ESP, and/or HPS engineering experience is preferred for this position.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
Expertise in plastic and metal part design, including machined metal and sheet metal
Expertise with design cycle from concept to manufacturing
SolidWorks fluency
Expertise in the areas of GD&T, tolerance analysis, statistical analysis, design of experiments, FEA, thermal design, and fluid mechanics
Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and ERP systems if preferred
SUPERVISION GIVEN:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
This position receives limited supervision; work is directed by a supervisor and the results are periodically reviewed to assure it is compliant with quality and productivity requirements .
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs
Operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator
Perform work on a computer for an average of up to 8 hrs. per day, when necessary
Work extended hours whenever required or requested by management
Communicate verbally (speak and hear) by telephone and in person for significant portions of each day
See near with acuity for major portions of each day
Domestic and international travel by commercial airlines, rental vehicles (as driver) and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities which may or may not have handicapped accommodations
Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Routinely perform work in multiple work settings including indoors in climate-controlled private or shared office environment with minimal noise; a common public area; and in a plant/factory setting.
