- Support the New Product Development Marketing Team in generating new ideas and bringing new innovative product concepts to life.
- Translate product requirements and specifications into detailed engineering designs, utilizing CAD software and other tools as needed.
- Prototype, test, and validate product concepts and designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and performance specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, creative, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
- Work closely with suppliers and vendors to source materials, components, and technologies that meet design requirements and quality standards.
- Provide technical expertise and support to cross-functional teams throughout the product lifecycle, from concept development to production ramp-up.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reliability, and manufacturability, optimizing cost and time-to-market.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop product documentation and technical specifications.
- Stay informed of emerging technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes relevant to product design and engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in product engineering or related roles, preferably in the consumer goods or home improvement industry, is required.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
- Must possess a high degree of creative, innovative, and out-of-the-box thinking.
- Familiarity and comfort with DIY and home improvement projects.
- Demonstrated ability to take a product from concept to production, focusing on innovation, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach to tackling technical challenges.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented mindset committed to delivering high-quality work on time and within budget.
- Familiarity with product development methodologies such as Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) is a plus.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards applicable to consumer products (e.g., UL, CE, RoHS) is desirable.
