The Accessibility Coordinator will assist in the development of reasonable academic accommodations for students with documented disabilities, to allow students with disabilities full participation in the programs offered by the university.

This position will conduct intake interviews, determine eligibility for accommodations, coordinate and implement approved accommodations, as well as serve as a resource for disability-related matters within the university and the community.

The coordinator will serve as the support for coordinating the university's participation in programs. This position will also collaborate with faculty and staff regarding referrals and supportive services, among other duties.

Primary Function of Organizational Unit:

The Office of Accessibility Resources ( OARS ) at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University provides reasonable and appropriate accommodations so students with documented disabilities and medical diagnoses have equal access to programs, activities, and materials along with all aspects of the university experience.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred:

Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Counseling, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related discipline.
Minimum of 2 years experience working with individuals with disabilities in higher education setting
Demonstrated knowledge of disability law, best practices for college campus accommodations, access and assistive technology.
Ability to work with a diverse group of people, communicate effectively, and work under minimal supervision as necessary.
Must be highly adaptable, flexible, self-motivated and knowledgeable about disability issues and campus life.
