    Overview:

    Ampact is looking for an experienced financial leader to serve as its Chief Financial Officer.

    About Ampact: Ampact is a national nonprofit that specializes in implementing and scaling evidence-based AmeriCorps programs across three focus areas: education, environment, and healthy futures. Most of the programming at Ampact is focused on education specifically through the Reading Corps, Math Corps and Early Learning Corps programs. These programs have a 20-year track record in providing high-dosage tutoring to over 50,000 students annually and have been tested rigorously through independent evaluations. Ampact has experienced significant growth in recent years and has ambition for continued growth.

    Ampact has 325+ employees and 3,500+ AmeriCorps members across 10 states. Its annual operating budget is $115 million. Ampact is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota with employees located in 10 states.

    Position Summary: The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for all aspects of financial management and leadership including grant & funds management, accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation. The CFO partners with executive leadership and board of directors to develop and implement strategies across the organization. This position is responsible for developing and overseeing internal control policies and procedures and provides oversight of finance and accounting department operations.

    This position will require an individual to have a roll up your sleeves type of attitude to manage and support the day-to-day functions of the team while also maintaining a strategic view for the organization. The finance department has 13 staff members, with 4 direct reports. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

    Responsibilities:
    • Develop and oversee financial strategies and activities, provide company guidance and leadership in all financial matters, including defining and enforcing financial policies to ensure compliance with grant and 2 CFR 200 requirements.?
    • Oversee all accounting operations including GL, grants accounting, A/P, A/R, payroll, cash flow and revenue recognition.??
    • Ensure cash flow planning and availability of funds for organizational operations.???
    • Provide and leverage financial planning & forecasting models to provide financial insight into the organizations operations and strategies.?
    • Provide leadership and direction to executives, management, and staff to align the organization on financial priorities and management.???
    • Oversee and set direction for the management of financial resources to meet program expansion goals and objectives.???
    • Effectively collaborate with executive and senior leadership to achieve organizational goals and objectives.??
    • Engage the board of directors finance committee as appropriate to inform or engage in financial decisions and to develop short and long-term financial plans and projections.???
    • Develop and document financial business processes to maintain and strengthen internal controls.??
    • Coordinate the development and monitoring of budgets, financial forecasts, and report variances.?
    • Oversee the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including both grant reporting and traditional accounting statements.??
    • Develop and communicate financial metrics and reporting to executive leadership and board of directors.??
    • Coordinate the timely and accurate preparation of regulatory and funder reporting, including reimbursement requests.?
    • Oversee annual audit processes and grant monitoring, managing relationship with external auditors and tax advisors.?
    • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes.?
    • Oversee compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.?? Ensure legal and regulatory compliance across all financial functions.?
    • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures that enable regulatory compliance and effective financial management. ?Ensure financial policies and procedures are compliant with state and federal laws, AmeriCorps regulations, federal funding requirements and grant reporting guidelines. Regularly review and updates policies and procedures as necessary.??
    • Remain up to date on AmeriCorps regulations, state and federal accounting regulations and legislation, and best practices regarding nonprofit operations.?? Appy best practices that drive effectiveness across finance department functions.?
    • Oversee financial systems ensuring the successful implementation and full utilization of payroll, accounting, financial planning, budgeting, expense management and other financial systems to ensure compliance and sound financial management.?
    • Manage relationships and contracts with vendors, monitor expenditures and continuously review quality of service relative to cost. Conduct RFP process to select and identify new vendors, as needed.??
    • Supervise and develop finance department staff, ensuring their work is aligned to organizational vision, values, and goals.??
    • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.??
    Qualifications:

    Minimum Education

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline
    • Masters degree in business administration, Accounting or Finance
    • CPA preferred

    Minimum Experience

    • 3-5+ years of experience as a CFO or the top senior financial leadership role for an organization, preferably in a complex, nonprofit organization.?
    • 10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience in accounting, budgeting, controls, and reporting.?
    • Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting compliance, and reporting.?
    • Federal grant experience with solid understanding of OMB (Office of Management and Budget) regulations and 2 CFR 200 preferred.?
    • 5 years of staff management experience with demonstrated skills in leading and engaging people to produce high-quality results.?
    • Proven track record in a management or leadership role involving significant decision-making authority in the planning, organizing, and directing of financial functions of the organization,???
    • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.?
    • Impeccable analytical and organizational skills.?
    • Excellent skills in Microsoft 365 products, including SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.?
    • Proficient in database and accounting application systems, including Oracle and NetSuite.?
    • Self-motivated and action-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement.?
    • Experience building effective relationships with executive management and board of directors.?
    • Strong strategic and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated flexibility and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, evolving environment.??
    • A strong grasp of problem solving and financial analysis techniques for nonprofits.?? Demonstrated strong business acumen and consultative skills. Ability to influence others at all levels within the organization.??
    • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing financial policies and procedures.?
