Reporting to the Senior Director for Industrial Design, the Senior Mechanical Engineer drives new product development and production initiatives for kitchen and cleaning products.
Bringing expertise in mechanical engineering and a passion for consumer goods, the Senior Mechanical Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring product innovation, quality, and functionality.
Responsibilities include defining engineering excellence, manufacturing details, conducting stress analyses, and participating in Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) efforts.Duties:
Provide engineering, manufacturing, and technical feasibility solutions for new product development and production efforts.
Use CAD software for material stress analysis to predict breaking points and material contraction.
Use CAD software and other engineering tools to create detailed product designs, 3D models, prototypes, and technical drawings (BOMs).
Develop Bill Of Materials with tolerances for new products.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and engineer kitchen and cleaning products, ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company guidelines.
Communicate with Category Managers regarding Product Engineering and Production.
Create and update department technical procedures and standards.
Assist suppliers with engineering processes for new product production.
Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analysis for new product concepts.
Monitor and evaluate product performance, implementing improvements.
Assist in communication with Product Management and Procurement for new items.
Stay updated on advancements in materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes.
Participate in VAVE efforts for new and existing items.
Manage product production using tools such as Centric and Jira.
Attend trade shows as needed.
Maintain the company's 2D and 3D Product Designs database.
Provide technical support to internal teams.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field (Advanced degree preferred).
Proven experience as a Product Industrial Engineer, preferably in the consumer goods industry.
Skills:
Proficiency in CAD 2D and 3D software.
Strong engineering knowledge in CAD Stress Analysis (Plastics and Metal).
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Materials and manufacturing processes knowledge.
Strong project management skills.
Familiarity with industry standards for kitchen and cleaning products.
Good verbal/written communication skills.
Proactive project ownership and team organization.
Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on quality and reliability.
Team player.
