    Salary Range:
    $110,663-$125,032 depending on qualifications.
    About the Position

    The Finance Director will be a strategic thought partner and will report to the Chief Executive Officer.

    This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with experience in managing finance and operations at a senior level of an organization, preferably in a nonprofit or government agency.

    The successful candidate will be a participative senior executive and will lead and develop a team that works in the following areas:
    finance, business planning and budgeting, and general administration.

    This position plays a critical role in strategic decision-making as the agency continues to enhance and expand its quality programming.

    About the Agency

    Pajaro Valley Prevention and Student Assistance, Inc.

    (PVPSA), based in Watsonville, California, is seeking a Director of Finance to lead the finance department of a highly effective, multi-service nonprofit.

    PVPSA's mission is to improve the quality of life of the students and families of the greater Pajaro Valley by providing health education, counseling, and prevention services, and by advocating for public policies that protect the health of our community.

    As the non-profit dedicated to the Pajaro Valley Unified School District, PVPSA team members provide an array of social and health services to thousands of children and families per year at school sites and in the community.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    Accounting and Finance:


    Leads all the planning, monitoring, and reporting of all aspects of the organization's finances in collaboration with the Executive Leadership team.

    Provide strategic financial recommendations and guidance to the executive team and the Board of Directors.
    Develop annual program budgets and cash flow forecasting.
    Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations throughout the organization.
    Manage month-end, year-end close, and all fiscal reconciliation and reporting.
    Leads and coordinates annual audit activities in partnership with external auditors and the finance committee.

    Prepares, presents, and effectively communicates financial statements to the Executive Leadership Team, Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors, which include the Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities, and Statement of Cash Flows.

    Responsible for monthly/quarterly revenue and expense grant management, monitoring, and reporting
    Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (GAAP), tax regulations, and nonprofit reporting requirements.

    Work with an external CPA firm on annual audits and is responsible for internal control procedures necessary to obtain a clean and timely audit opinion and management report from the auditors.


    HR and Risk Management:
    Oversee the HR Department

    Advise the CEO in all matters of employee relations, including guidelines on hiring, benefits, compensation, preparation of salary scale, retirement plans, and compliance with all relevant state and federal employment laws and regulations.

    Serve as the chief liaison for organizational risk management by managing and mitigating the organization's exposure to risk.

    Experience and Qualifications:
    Minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; relevant advanced degree and certification such as CPA, CMA, MBA, MPA, or similar preferred
    At least 3-5 years of overall professional experience in the field of finance and management; ideally 3+ years of broad financial and operations management experience in the nonprofit sector
    Experience coordinating the budgeting process for an organization with a multi-million-dollar budget and significant grant funding.
    Strong project management skills inclusive of the ability to lead and solve cross-functional matters across the organization.
    Aptitude for understanding and optimizing the financial administrative components of an organization.

    A successful track record in setting priorities and accomplishing them promptly; keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills that support and enable strategic decision-making.

    Excellent written, communication, and relationship-building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
