    Housing Outreach Specialist at Goddard Riverside Community Center



    Location: Outreach Downtown Team - New York, NY


    Position Type: Full Time


    Salary Range: $20.03 Hourly



    Organization Overview: Goddard Riverside Community Center and the Stanley M. Isaacs Center are established agencies in Manhattan with a combined annual budget of around $63 million. They provide services to about 30,000 New Yorkers, focusing on children, youth, families, homeless individuals, and older adults in Manhattan and NYC.


    Program Description: The organizations work within a social justice framework to empower individuals and families for better lives. As part of the Manhattan Outreach Consortium, the Housing Outreach Specialist at Goddard engages individuals living on the street in lower Manhattan, aiming to place them into transitional and permanent housing.



    Purpose of Position: The Housing Outreach Specialist uses a harm reduction approach to connect with individuals experiencing street homelessness, acting as their case manager with the goal of securing housing placements. Collaboration with various teams and organizations is key to achieving success.



    Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:30 am - 1:30 pm



    Salary: $36,454.60



    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Serve as a case manager for homeless adults, facilitating placement in transitional and permanent housing
    • Conduct intake, assessment, and service planning
    • Maintain client records and input data in computer systems
    • Provide follow-up case management for housed clients
    • Coordinate with other agencies for client services
    • Participate in outreach activities and homeless counts
    • Drive outreach van when necessary

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree preferred
    • Experience with homeless or mentally ill populations beneficial
    • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
    • Flexibility in work hours

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Understanding of housing first and harm reduction models
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to multitask and work in a team
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and computer databases

    Physical Requirements:

    • Frequent walking and standing
    • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs

    Work Environment: Indoors and outdoors, all weathers
