- Perform clinical research activities in interventional cardiology including management of subject participants, study eligibility screening, education, medication administration, and adverse reaction identification.
- Assist participants with issues related to cardiovascular protocol therapy.
- Contribute to protocol development, coordination, maintenance, and oversight of clinical trial protocols.
- Engage in treatment randomizations and liaise with local healthcare practitioners and sponsors.
- Screen, recruit, enroll, and explain clinical trials to potential subjects ensuring informed consent process.
- Develop recruitment materials and oversee trial-related procedures scheduling.
- Participate in the development and testing of clinical research trial data systems.
- Collect and enter clinical research data ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Organize regulatory documentation, prepare required regulatory documents, and monitor compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Conduct audits of research and clinical data to ensure proper maintenance of documents.
- Provide supervision, facilitate education and training, and adhere to institutional policies and guidelines.
- Develop and manage study budgets, identify cost containment measures, and ensure efficient budget administration.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Iowa Registered Nurse license, nursing or clinical research experience, BLS certification, and strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of cardiovascular medicine procedures and terminology.
- Prior experience in clinical research, regulatory guidelines, and cardiovascular medicine.
- Experience with patient population, phlebotomy, IRB guidelines, Good Clinical Practice, time management, and independent decision-making.
- Familiarity with EPIC and software applications.

BASIC FUNCTION
The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is looking for a Research Nurse with a current Registered Nurse license in Iowa to apply clinical skills and evaluate and execute research protocols in Adult Interventional Cardiology in a variety of settings including the Heart and Vascular Center, inpatient, catheterization lab, and ambulatory clinics. The role involves having a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology in adults, as well as coordinating multiple parties.
