    Position Information

    Job Title Research Associate - Dr. Jia Department Biomedical Sciences Pay Grade 6 Job Category Administrative Job Summary

    A Research Associate position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Cuihong Jia at East Tennessee State University School of Medicine. The lab is studying the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying olfactory neuroplasticity and function.

    The Research Associate will work on a research project focusing on improving olfactory neuroplasticity and function via olfactory stem cell signaling.

    The lab employs in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo methods as well as molecular, immunofluorescence, and behavioral techniques to address our goals.

    The successful candidate will join a group of researchers interested in olfactory neuroplasticity, a department with a neuroscience concentration, and a College of Medicine with numerous opportunities to collaborate to study the neuroregeneration following injury.


    As a Research Associate, she/he will assist the PI in managing the lab and mouse colonies, independently performs experiments, data analysis, and prepare manuscript/report, as well as train technicians and graduate students.

    The position is contingent upon grant funding.

    • Knowledge of Protein and DNA/RNA Analysis
    • Knowledge of Immunohistochemistry
    • Knowledge of Microscopy-based cell counting
    • Experience with Confocal imaging
    • Experience with Mouse handling
    • Experience with Dosage and frozen tissue processing and sectioning
    • Experience with In vitro primary cell cultures
    • Experience with Flow cytometry
    Required Qualifications

    Ph.
    D. in Biomedical Sciences or Neuroscience

    Preferred Qualifications
