- The Mental Health Nurse delivers care within a custodial setting, practicing within a recovery framework and using sound judgement to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and maintain a high standard of patient care.
- In doing so, the Mental Health Nurse recognises the needs of the individual within the boundaries set by the profession, Forensicare and GEO.
- This position works with a multidisciplinary team to provide care and facilitate recovery through the use of evidence-based treatment approaches.
- In addition, the Mental Health Nurse consults, negotiates and liaises effectively across a number of settings including the Aire, Erskine, Moroka and Tambo Units, Reception, Outpatients and 'At Risk'.
- Key nursing care coordination;
- At Risk Assessments;
- Initial Reception Mental Health Screening;
- Provision of individualised and group therapeutic programs.

- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
