Main Purpose of Job

The purpose of this full time merit position is to help Kent County Health Department maintain and improve a healthy environment for the citizens of Kent County. The position of the Environmental Health Specialist Program Supervisor assists with planning and administering the environmental program. This position is responsible for assisting in the planning, promoting, developing, implementing, and evaluating an entire range of environmental health programs. This position may require up to 50-75% of time spent in field based activities. This position requires evening, weekend and on-call per the program's needs.\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:�� Determined by the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists under the licensing requirements for Environmental Health Specialists.\r

Experience: Three years of experience performing inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with environmental health laws and regulations, including one year in a supervisory capacity.\r
Notes:\r
1. Candidates may substitute possession of a Master of Public Health or Master of Science degree from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.\r
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Environmental Engineering classifications or Environmental Engineering specialty codes in the Engineering and Natural Resources field of work on a year-for-year basis for the�required�experience.�� \r

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess and maintain a current license as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist from the Maryland Board of Environmental Health Specialists.\r

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r
