    ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL ETHICS STANDARDS BOARD FOR ACCOUNTANTS (IESBA)
    The International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) is an independent global standard-setting board. The IESBA's mission is to serve the public interest by setting high-quality, international ethics (including independence) standards as a cornerstone to ethical behavior in business and organizations, and to public trust in financial and non-financial information that is fundamental to the proper functioning and sustainability of organizations, financial markets, and economies worldwide.

    The IESBA supports the adoption and implementation of the International Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants (including International Independence Standards), promotes good ethical practices globally, and fosters international debate on ethical issues in business and public practice, including in relation to assurance of financial and non-financial information.

    Along with the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB), the IESBA is part of the International Foundation for Ethics and Audit (IFEA).

    THE OPPORTUNITY
    As the IESBA Strategic Communications Director, you will report directly to the IESBA Chair and work closely with the IESBA Program and Senior Director, and the IFEA Managing Director of Professional Standards. You will have the opportunity to:
    • Shape a powerful narrative about the importance of the IESBA's standards globally, and how they are understood and applied in the public interest, both within and outside the accountancy profession.
    • Raise awareness and understanding of the IESBA and its profile and visibility.
    • Utilize impactful communications and effective stakeholder engagement to elevate the ethical bar in business and organizations.
    DOES THIS DESCRIBE YOU?
    You are an experienced and self-motivated communications executive with a demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate, and deliver highly effective strategic communications programming.
    You are focused on public interest and practical ethical issues and have the confidence and executive presence to participate actively in discussions on challenging topics in a collaborative environment.

    You are an excellent communicator who can champion the board's work and translate that work into impactful and engaging narratives.

    You are at ease both in navigating a multi-cultural work setting, and in liaising with the IESBA staff, board members, and key stakeholders.

    You can understand the economic and political environment in which the IESBA operates, identify risks and opportunities likely to impact the IESBA's work and reputation, and provide strategic advice to leadership and the IESBA team.

    You have experience with media, including the ability to provide and perform media training for the
    IESBA team and board members.

    You are a strategic thinker with an instinctive ability to comprehend, distill, and summarize technical content to communicate plainly and effectively with a broad audience.
    You are passionate about amplifying the importance of ethical standards to global capital markets and society.

    YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
    Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Building close working relationships with the IESBA leadership/management and team members of IESBA and IFEA.
    • Understanding complex issues and the attitude of media, politicians/regulators, investors, firms, funders, and other stakeholder groups.
    • Counseling leadership/management and technical staff on communications strategy and tactics, as well as stakeholder engagement.
    • Collaborating with the IESBA leadership on developing, strategizing, and executing a communications strategy and program.
    • Helping to shape and amplify the IESBA's brand and voice to enlarge its stakeholder community and manage key relationships.
    • Writing thoughtful, well-structured, and impactful content for different audiences through speeches, PowerPoint presentations, press releases, articles, annual reports, etc.
    • Fostering an international network of journalist and stakeholder contacts and relationships, proactively building an effective network, pitching journalists as needed, and organizing media meetings.
    • Ensuring strategic management of the IESBA's website to enhance its attractiveness and accessibility.
    • Providing guidance and brand vision on social media channels, including video content to enhance the IESBA's presence and reach.
    • Formulating marketing materials, including brochures and fact sheets.
    • Playing a key role in team management, sharing intel and news, and managing team member(s) on the IESBA Communications team.
    YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
    • Experience in developing and delivering effective communications programs that support business objectives.
    • Experience leading and delivering complex projects, often on short deadlines and while balancing multiple initiatives.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of another language is desirable.
    • Excellent project management skills.
    • Knowledge of or interest in issues relating to accounting and ethics. A general understanding of the accounting standard-setting process is a plus.
    • Experience with media/journalism.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, Zoom, and Database Management Software.
    • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Communications, Journalism, Economics, or another relevant field.

    LOCATION AND COMPENSATION
    Primary Location (New York City) Salary Range: $190,000 - $230,000

    The position will be hybrid, requiring in-office work.
