    Central Bark in Charlotte, NC is looking for a Full Time Assistant Manager to join our team This role is ideal for someone currently working in the pet-care industry and who has the experience, desire and ability to take on greater responsibility.

    Summary

    The role of Assistant Manager involves operational supervision, customer service and managerial support. Working with our Manager, this job requires you to provide direction and oversight for the smooth operation of all daily activities and services; supervise and train staff; educate customers about our day care, boarding, grooming, and training services; and follow operational protocols to ensure the safety of all dogs and employees.

    This is a "hands-on" management position that will require you to perform duties / services personally or hand-in-hand with other staff members to provide top-notch service and ensure the overall care and welfare of dogs in our facility. The Assistant Manager must be able to engage with customers, multi-task, solve problems and perform in a fast paced, physical environment. It is essential that this candidate possess the ability to build a positive and caring team environment, as well as the desire and ability to build client relationships by providing exceptional customer service.

    We operate 365 days a year; the Assistant Manager is expected to work weekends and holidays, when needed.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Approximately 60% of your time will be spending performing managerial, administrative and customer services duties; 25% of your time will be assisting staff in their performance of dog related services / operations; remaining 15% will be assisting with cleaning. Specific duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):

    • Lead and manage shifts while acting as manager in charge to ensure the efficient daily operation of daycare, boarding and grooming services;
    • Manage operations to maintain the highest standards of service, conduct, cleanliness, and safety; communicates any potential issues, concerns and needs to the Manager
    • Assist Manager in training employees, assigning and supervising work, coaching employees and conducting employee performance evaluations
    • Deliver exceptional customer service by performing the functions of the Front Desk Associate, as necessary, to ensure customer satisfaction is consistently obtained
    • Handle any general inquiries about Central Bark's services (via phone, email or in-person) and resolve any customer concerns or issues
    • Build customer relationships and promote / sell daycare, boarding, grooming and training services
    • Organize and process customer check-ins / check-outs; process collection of payment
    • Use software program to schedule reservations and appointment, enter customer information and update customer records
    • Set positive impression and project a professional image to all customers and staff through dress code, demeanor and language
    • Remain current on new business, marketing, and industry trends
    • Assist Manager in coordinating the development and implementation of short- and long-term marketing strategies to enhance existing business, increase market awareness and build brand loyalty
    • Help maintain compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations; support and enforce established company policies and procedures
    • Willingness to perform any position / staff duties as necessary to maintain facility operations, including but not limited to care of the dogs, cleaning and front desk functions
    • If needed, supervise play groups of dogs and assist in crating, leashing, feeding, medicating, etc.
    • Assist staff in end-of-day cleaning duties such as cleaning up dog waste, sweeping, vacuuming mopping, dusting, disinfecting and cleaning crates

    Education and/or Experience:

    • High school degree or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree equivalent education and experience is a plus
    • Minimum 2 years of prior dog daycare experience required
    • Minimum 2 years of management/supervisory or equivalent experience required
    • Prior customer service, retail sales, hospitality or veterinary management is a plus

    Physical Skills: Ability to perform a variety of demanding physical activities, including lifting a minimum of 50 pounds (whether it is a bag of dog food, a crate or a dog), standing for long periods of time and enduring outdoor temperatures.

    Mathematical Skills: Basic math, counting and measuring abilities. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

    Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to quickly learn point of sale software are required.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, analyze emergencies and think on your feet. Ability to deal with customers and any complaints and either address them or escalate to the appropriate channel (Owner/Manager) to find a solution to the problem.

    Job Type: Full Time - Must be able to work 30-40 hours per week and available on weekends and holidays, as needed.

    About Central Bark

    • Enrichment Day Care: 5 days a week, Monday through Friday
    • Stay & Play and Sleepover services: 7 days a week
    • Grooming services: 5 days a week, Monday through Friday
    • Hours of operation: 7am – 6:30 pm Monday through Friday; Boarding pick-up/drop-off by appt only Saturday & Sunday

    Pay: $16.00 based on experience and qualifications.
