    Job Summary Working as the Human Resources Business Partner/Employee Relations Specialist, your main focus will be to support the Human Resources function so that it meets both the needs of the business and of our associates.

    The HR Business Partner/Employee Relations Specialist will take the lead role in all of the following functional areas:

    employee relations, HR specific training, HR legal requirements and compliance, development and revision of HR policies and procedures, associate engagement survey action plan follow up, performance and merit increase monitoring and hiring non-exempt associates.

    This is an onsite position and will require this individual to work in our Redmond, WA office.


    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    Ensure all Company policies are applied consistently regarding recruitment, postings, promotions, merit adjustments, terminations, and any other standing HR practice or policy to maintain equitable treatment.

    Objectively coach associates and management through complex and difficult issues. Provide guidance to management on appropriate disciplinary action. Assist with on-site investigations. Maintain and coordinate associate recognition programs. Ensure compliance with all federal and state laws in relation to personnel files, I-9s, public postings, etc. File information into the appropriate files. Regularly run and/or review HR activity reports. Support internal customer survey and associate engagement survey interpretation/feedback process. Attend department manager meetings to increase HR visibility, conduct classroom training, provide assistance and implement HR initiatives. Process status change forms. Design and implement HR tools to support the strategic and tactical HR business plan.

    Coach and counsel management in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance reviews, and follow investigation information gathering protocols, managing internal investigations on matters of workplace harassment, alleged unfair treatment, etc.

    Interpret and advise managers on collective agreements, managing grievances and arbitrations, and participate in collective bargaining and union negotiations. Advise management in appropriate resolution of employee relations' issues.

    Maintain knowledge of legal requirements such as provincial employment standards, common law and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions Respond to inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures and programs, group benefit programs such as life, health, dental and disability insurances, vacation, sick leave, leaves of absence and the employee assistance Prepare, coordinate and present HR related topics and other HR related training (i.e., Orientation, Sexual Harassment, and Progressive Counseling).

    Ie:
    Support company's job evaluation and compensation guideline protocols. Assist managers in the development and coordination of job descriptions and structured interviews.

    Coach, mentor and develop HR Administrators within the HR department including the interviewing, hiring, and training of new HR Administrators, planning, assigning and directing work, and appraising performance.


    Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. PHR or SPHR designation strongly preferred. 5+ years human resources generalist experience preferred, management experience a plus.

    Strong working knowledge of current ESA, Human Rights Act and Occupational Health and Safety legislation Experience working in a unionized environment and the ability to interpret and fully understand collective agreements.

    Strong organizational, follow-through, and workload planning skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities while adhering to processes and deadlines.

    Demonstrated ability to manage complex associate relations issues at a large, multi-unit organization preferred. Previous experience as part of a centralized HR environment, preferably in a corporate setting. Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills; advanced skills preferred. Experience responding to common inquiries or complaints from associates, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Strong presentation skills required. Sense of urgency with the ability to respond in a service-oriented, timely and efficient manner. Great interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

    Strong administrative skills including data entry, filing, reporting, etc Labor relations experience including interpreting and advising managers on collective agreements, participating in grievances/arbitrations, bargaining and negotiations, would also be an asset.
