Description
Position OverviewDelta Utilities is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller for the company.
This position will oversee all financial activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations and providing strategic financial guidance to the leadership team.
This position will also support the standup activities, including developing and implementing internal processes based on industry best practices and compliance regulations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, finance, and internal operations, with a proven track record of success and leadership abilities, preferably in a stand-up or large-scale organization environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of the company's financial management, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and analysis
Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations, and tax laws
Collaborate with other internal stakeholders to develop and maintain controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data
Prepare and present financial reports and analyses to senior management and stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations to support decision-making
Coordinate the annual budgeting process and monitor performance against budgeted targets
Lead the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring timely completion of audit deliverables
Manage cash flow and working capital to optimize liquidity and support business operations
Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management, including investment analysis, cost optimization, and revenue enhancement initiatives
Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes that may impact the company's financial performance
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is required; a combination of experience and education that clearly demonstrates comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities may be suitable
Relevant certifications strongly preferred, such as the CPA or CMA certifications
A minimum of seven to ten years of related professional experience is required, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity, preferably in an industrial or utilities setting
Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements
Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with team members at all levels of the organization
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders
About Delta Utilities
Delta Utilities is a leading natural gas utility with a focus on safe, dependable service to customers.
Headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, the utility will serve nearly 600,000 customers and become of the leading natural gas providers in Louisiana and Mississippi and among the top 40 providers in the United States.
In 2023, Entergy announced that it had entered into an agreement with Delta Utilities to sell its Louisiana gas distribution business.
In February 2024, Delta Utilities entered into an agreement with CenterPoint Energy to acquire its Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas businesses, which currently serve approximately 381,000 customers.
Once the transactions are complete, Entergy's Louisiana natural gas operations and CenterPoint Energy's Louisiana and Mississippi natural gas systems will be operated by Delta Utilities.
