    Description

    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    Reporting to the Program Manager of Supportive Services, the Support Staff position is responsible for the safety and security of program participants and the facility. Conducts screenings, intakes, orientations and discharges during participants stay in shelter; supervises and assists program participants with basic needs; assists in conflict resolution and crisis intervention; monitors and assist participants in working their case plan; addresses, documents, and reports all participant performance; and performs a variety of other duties to assist participants while in shelter. This position is committed to improving the quality of services provided by seeking input from clients, employees and stakeholders to ensure service delivery and accessibility is equitable to all persons served. The Support Staff is a full time, non-exempt position eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance; 403 (b) retirement plan; paid holidays, and Paid Time Off. This position is employed by Goodwill Industries of Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada, Inc., through Next Move Homeless Services, Inc.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Gathers information from clients either in person or by telephone to determine their needs and eligibility for assistance.
    • Conducts intake process and prepares intake records for participants accepted for assistance and ensures that the participants have a smooth transition into program.
    • Documents in participant files each shift any pertinent information and complete shift log.
    • Performs room checks for health and safety and monitors facility grounds to ensure the safety of participants.
    • Assists participants with minor problems and answer routine questions.
    • Assists in implementing and supporting participants with individualized case plan goals.
    • Conducts security checks throughout shift on an hourly basis.
    • Monitors on-site participant's observance of program rules.
    • Documents rule violations and writes incident reports when applicable.
    • De-escalates crisis and responds to crisis situations in a calm manner.
    • Comprehends and adheres to ethical standards and confidentiality laws.
    • Responds to and assists other providers in delivering services to our participants.
    • Makes appropriate referrals to participants calling for assistance or for participants enrolled in program.
    • Supervises daily meals served in the kitchen and assist in other kitchen duties as needed. Facilitate CACFP Guidelines as directed and trained.
    Other Duties/Responsibilities
    • Ensures compliance with all Next Move Homeless Services and Goodwill Industries Sacramento Valley Northern Nevada policies, CARF standards, and safety and security regulations.
    • Attends trainings and staff meetings, as required.
    • Completes reports as directed by the Program Manager of Mental Health.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Basic Qualifications of the Role:
    • Experience working with the homeless population and knowledge of foster youth's unique needs.
    • Exhibit a high degree of professionalism.
    • Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others or property.
    • Must be able to perform essential functions of this job description with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • A strong commitment to the program and the mission of the organization.
    • Extensive experience with strengths-based case management.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions; and effectively present information to management and/or public groups.
    • Proven ability to represent the interests of the organization, interact effectively with a diverse population, and be comfortable building successful collaborative relationships with youth, staff and other stakeholders.
    • High level of energy and good sense of humor with the capacity for extraordinary time and effort demands.
    • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
    • No record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates an ongoing tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior.
    • Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.
    • Must pass a drug and background screening.
