For more information, visit The Senior Director, Project Management at Worley is responsible for leading a project management department or sub-group of 30 or less professionals.

This role involves operational leadership, with a focus on implementing strategies within a complex area that requires a broad understanding of practices and principles in a highly specialized field or in a cross-functional setting.

The Senior Director generally manages work through others, operating with a high degree of autonomy within the framework of general management direction and functional policies.

This role may also be assigned a Project Management role on specific projects, programs, or portfolios. Key Responsibilities


Business Development:

Assist in business development activities by maintaining personal profiles and resumes, tracking existing capabilities, and strategically addressing future customer capability requirements.

Foster positive working relationships with external parties, including customers, suppliers, and contractors.
Engage in networking, negotiations, strategic alliancing, and cost-saving efforts.
Oversee the maintenance of pricing records reflecting the effort required to complete discipline activities.
Support proposal development by crafting project execution strategies, reviewing costs, creating proposal content, and presenting proposals to customers. May lead part or all of a proposal effort.
Business Operations

Plan, manage, and deliver project management operations in alignment with the business plan.
Control project management staffing levels and organizational structure.
Ensure mentoring and training requirements are met.
Manage the employee performance review process.
Facilitate coverage of activities in the event of team member departures.
Contribute to dispute resolution efforts.
Ensure work and team activities adhere to health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
Decision Making

Make independent decisions and recommendations while managing significant-sized projects.
Develop and oversee the implementation of strategic programs and policies for the department, impacting the overall organization.
Manage multiple complex projects through others.
Collaborate frequently with executive management on matters influencing the organization's business results, including global strategies.
Supervision Received

Operate with broad management authority.
Limited only by project objectives and organizational policies.
Review work to ensure alignment with Worley's direction and mission.
Supervision Authority

Manage both direct and indirect reports.
Have authority for performance evaluations impacting compensation.
Make decisions related to the selection, training, discipline, and remuneration of personnel.

Provide administrative direction to subordinate supervision, with contact with the workforce often occurring through such levels rather than direct interactions.

Leadership

Identify, recruit, train, and develop project management professionals for the assigned location or region.
Assign individuals to appropriate projects to foster growth and development.
Effectively lead and monitor the performance of teams, ensuring quality and timeliness of assignments.
Create a collaborative team environment, establishing a common vision, clear expectations, and accountability.
Technical Expertise

Utilize Worley project delivery methodology and associated tools for large and mega complex projects.

Demonstrate the capability to oversee large-scale projects, responsible for planning, directing, supervising, and controlling all technical, fiscal, and administrative functions.

Manage procurement of equipment/materials, subcontracting, materials planning, and multiple contracts.
Handle mixed contracting strategies such as Unit Price, Lump Sum, and Reimbursable contracts.
Manage complex scope changes.
Monitor projects, track progress systematically, and provide accurate and timely information.
Have completed a full project from start to finish and spent time in the field implementing engineered solutions.
Execution Planning & Performance

Coordinate the preparation of integrated project execution plans for mega or complex projects, encompassing various disciplines.
Manage project execution, coordination, and regular reviews/controls to track progress.
Possess a comprehensive understanding of Project Control Reports and identify and address problem areas.
Interpret project schedules to identify adverse trends and take corrective actions.
Apply forward planning to resource projects effectively.
Implement appropriate coordination, reviews, and follow-ups across the project.
Apply Advanced Work Packaging for planning and delivery.
Incorporate Value Creation and Sustainable Solutions objectives into project plans, measuring and delivering to objectives.
Have experience in successful workshare execution.
Communication & Networking

Effectively communicate and lead in preparing and presenting proposals and reports to staff and management.
Implement clear communication protocols, processes, and tools for project teams.
Communicate effectively in various settings, including one-on-one, small and large groups, and among diverse styles and position levels.

Create an environment for open communication across levels, functions, geography, and cultures, fostering a high-performing team based on trust and respect.

Resolve issues and conflicts within the project team, including with customers.
Communicate effectively about sensitive and complex subjects of strategic importance to influence desired outcomes.
Collaborate with others across the organization to achieve shared objectives.
Customer & Stakeholder Management

Develop and execute complex monthly KPI reports and other communication plans for customers and key stakeholders.
Communicate both positive and negative information to customers and advise and influence to meet project KPIs.
Skillfully manage significant conflict situations with various individuals, including customers and other stakeholders.
Establish a relationship of trust and respect, enabling transparent discussions about project progress, challenges, and issues. Successfully resolve complex contractual issues and/or litigations.
Risk & Opportunity Management

Understand commercial and legal risks in customer contracts, reviewing and understanding mitigation plans.

Identify potential risks and opportunities for the business arising from internal and external forces and develop effective risk mitigation, contingency, and resolution plans.

Follow Worley's risk management procedures.
Maintain a detailed risk register that stays current, tracking and communicating risks regularly.
Utilize Risk Register items as the basis for business planning.
Job Specific Knowledge And Experience (Desirable)

Demonstrate experience in leading large and mega projects with high risk.
Handle complex commercial engagements for project delivery, including joint ventures.
Job Specific Knowledge And Experience (Essential)

Possess significant years of experience, including relevant supervisory, project management, and/or technical experience.
Demonstrate experience in workshare arrangements.
Familiarity with EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management), EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) contracts, including site assignments.
Experience working in multicultural and multinational environments.
