    OVERVIEW:

    The role of YDP Support Specialist involves providing support and filling in where necessary. This individual will assist in planning, executing, and assessing program outcomes in various areas such as academic and career success, health and recreation activities, character and leadership development, the arts, and specialized programs.

    This position also includes supervising and engaging club members, creating a safe and positive environment for them by fostering healthy relationships.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Contributes to establishing a conducive environment for youth development and success at the Club.
    • Plans and organizes activities to meet the diverse needs of children in the program.
    • Maintains safety at all times within the Club premises.
    • Supports YDPs, volunteers, and staff in meeting organizational objectives.
    • Fills in for staff members as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in various program areas.
    • Encourages and enhances program participation.
    • Collaborates with the team to ensure high-quality programs are delivered.
    • Builds strong relationships with colleagues and members to enhance overall service delivery.
    • Ensures order and cleanliness in program areas and recommends maintenance or repairs when needed.
    • Participates in training and educational opportunities to enhance skills.
    • Engages in community outreach and special projects.
    • May be required to substitute for absent YDPs at any Club site.
    • Performs any other duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION:
    • High School diploma or GED, with at least two years of college experience preferred.
    • Minimum of two years of relevant experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development required.
    • Excellent communication skills, valid drivers' license, and ability to pass background checks.
    • CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred.
    • Previous experience in a Boys & Girls Club is a plus.

    KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY and SKILLS:
    • Proficiency in core subject matters and youth development principles.
    • Skilled in program planning, management, and achieving positive outcomes.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle disciplinary matters effectively.
    • Demonstrated capability in building relationships and working with young people.
    • Ability to manage time efficiently and work independently.

    Shifts/Schedules:
    • 8 am-1 pm.
    • 10 am-3 pm.
    • 12 pm-5 pm.

    • Challengers Club-5029 Vermont Ave Los Angeles CA 90037.
    • Watts-Willowbrook-1339 E. 120th Place. Los Angeles CA, 90059.
    • Bell Gardens-7104 Perry Road, Bell Gardens, CA 90201.

    WORKING CONDITIONS and DRIVING:
    • Travel between different Club sites and schools is required.
    • Flexible hours based on school calendar;
    • Evening and weekend hours may be necessary.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Physical demands and work environment characteristics are typical for this role. Some flexibility and physical exertion may be required.
