- Work with corporate capacity planning group on space and machine time availability
- Survey and make recommendations for new tooling sources
- Evaluate and make recommendations on new technologies and equipment to keep the plant on the leading edge
- Direct internal/external tool shops on all tool repairs and improvements
- Manage and lead molding technical team including: Industrial Engineers, Process Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Tooling teams.
- Responsible for team member evaluations and mentorship/coaching, including accessing effectiveness of technical abilities and leadership potential.
- Take the lead in engineering activities in the area of blow molding, injection molding, and secondary equipment, in order to obtain optimum productivity and quality levels while complying with customer specifications.
- Responsible for the overall development and administration of the Engineering Process.
- Establish and review process controls, emphasize continuous improvement and improve productivity through waste reduction.
- Responsible for achieving product target cost, improved efficiency, identifying possible production problems for existing products.
- Support product launch strategy
- Develops short- and long-term strategy to support customer requirements
- Authorizes engineering change notices (deviations), process alerts, purchase orders, equipment spare parts inventory, and personnel training requests
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in Automotive injection/blow molding plastics preferred
- APQP Process understanding (FMEA, Control Plan, etc).
- Lean Manufacturing abilities is a plus as we transition in our Continuous Improvement Program
- Proven ability to problem solve and utilize root cause analysis
- Candidates must demonstrate solid skills in communication, interpersonal relations, and ability to inspire individuals to improve performance
- A self-starting, goal-oriented, customer-focused individual who takes personal accountability and is driven by the achievement of the business unit's vision and objectives in accordance with the Company's Leadership Values

What we are looking for:
Grammer is looking for a Technical Manager to join our team in Tupelo, MS. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a team environment and will have an opportunity to make lasting and positive changes on our team.
Responsibilities:
The Technical Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating all technical aspects within the manufacturing process, including Maintenance, Process Engineers, Process Techs, Tooling Engineers, and the Controls Team. They will provide support to all manufacturing and processing areas in the plant, making sure that the equipment is ready for production, coordinating the different disciplines of your team by mentoring, coaching, and guiding team members while anticipating the issues that can interfere with the ready status of all production equipment. Additional tasks will include support of Continuous Improvement and Quality improvement initiatives. Coordinate technical training and support from corporate launch resources, and drives processing improvements. Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers. Coordinate with the Corporate AME team and your engineering team for requisitions tools, equipment and supplies required for operations. Initiates and authorizes employee hire, promotion, discharge or transfer.
