    Position Overview

    The BSA/AML Operations Officer is responsible for performing a variety of duties to support the Bank's BSA/AML/OFAC Department.

    This individual will coordinate work within the department and will serve as the liaison between the BSA Department and Financial Center staff and all other Bank departments.

    The BSA/AML Operations Officer will attend meetings, communicate with appropriate personnel, and provide periodic reports as required while maintaining a focus on production within their specified area of expertise (SAM, EDD, CTRs, etc.).

    The BSA/AML Operations Officer is a more experienced member of the BSA/AML department and can aid and guide other department staff given their experience and industry knowledge.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities


    • Administers and reviews the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Program, including Currency Transaction Reporting (CTR); Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR); USA PATRIOT Act section 314(a) searches; Customer Identification Program (CIP); Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC); and Identity Theft prevention program (Red Flags). This is primarily accomplished through daily review and completion of work product in the employee's designated area.
    • Completes Risk Assessment updates, reviews department procedures, enhances current processes for efficiency, and updates of the BSA governing documents.
    • Prepares for all third-party visitations, including, but not limited to examinations, audits, and consulting engagements.
    • Completes assigned work within the prescribed timelines (based on area of focus) to ensure all regulatory deadlines are adhered to.
    • Gathers, prepares, and/or submits CTR forms and related information; reviews IES/CTR system reports; maintains CTR/SAR cash transaction logs; responds to IRS/CTR correspondence and maintains log.
    • Performs bi-weekly electronic retrieval of 314 (a) file from website; performs USA PATRIOT Act section 314(a) searches on core system; corresponds with Trust Dept. searches; maintains search log and search results.
    • Performs daily verification and tracking of required forms.
    • Reviews system generated suspicious activity alerts; completes any required follow up resulting from the alert, up to and including an investigation and or SAR. SARs should be drafted for approval from BSA management.
    • Maintains various reporting across the BSA/AML Department to include, but not limited to: 314(a) and 314(b) logs
    • Currency Transaction Exemption Listing
    • Currency Transaction Logs
    • High Risk Customer list
    • Monetary Instrument Logs
    • OFAC
    • Suspicious Activity Reporting
    • Additional reports to aid in production metrics and or support the overall BSA/AML/OFAC program.
    • Identifies and measures BSA/AML risk across the organization and provides guidance on risk mitigation needs.
    • Gathers and updates information required for the annual BSA/AML/OFAC Risk Assessments ahead of presentation and approval to the Board of Directors.
    • Works with all third-party visitations and assists the Director of BSA/AML/OFAC in taking and recommending action to correct any identified deficiencies or enhancements.
    • Coordinates with Financial Center Manager for the collection of information and documents required for the BSA annual review of Money Services Businesses (MSB), CTR Exempt, Private ATM owners and any other customer type, as necessary.
    Education and Qualifications


    • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in the financial services industry with an emphasis on Bank Secrecy Act / Anti-Money Laundering compliance or similar experience normally required.
    • College or technical school education/training preferred, or equivalent related work experience and/or training.
    • Certification/License: One or more of the following strongly preferred: Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified AML and Fraud Professional (CAFP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS) or equivalent certifications.
