Director, Innovation Partnerships - Raleigh, United States - RTI International

    Default job background
    Description
    Overview

RTI International is an independent, nonprofit research institute dedicated to improving the human condition. Our vision is to address the world's most critical problems with science-based solutions in pursuit of a better future. Clients rely on us to answer questions that demand an objective and multidisciplinary approach-one that integrates expertise across the social and laboratory sciences, engineering, and international development. Our staff of nearly 6,000 works in more than 80 countries-tackling hundreds of projects each year to address complex social and scientific challenges on behalf of governments, businesses, foundations, universities, and other clients and partners.

As a division of RTI, RTI Innovation Advisors (IA) has been helping global corporate, federal, and foundation clients solve their toughest technology and innovation challenges for more than 50 years. As a consulting group within a mission-driven organization, we share your drive to make the world better and your desire for work with purpose: to solve challenges facing science and society, and to learn and grow in a diverse and inclusive global environment.

We see our work as an act of service, and service as an opportunity to lead our clients along a journey to greater impact and our colleagues along a journey of professional growth. IA provides an environment that promotes our values of quiet confidence, learning, collaborating, empowered by a culture of trust and respect, responsibility, and accountability. We are a collaborative, growing team, working in a matrixed way, where diverse perspectives are valued, and professional growth opportunities abound.

RTI Innovation Advisors is actively searching for a Director of Innovation Partnerships. This vital role will focus on partnering with various business units within RTI to integrate IA's unique innovation services into key proposals thereby maximizing client value within the U.S. Federal agencies that RTI supports. The role demands active engagement in seeking out and leveraging collaborative opportunities across RTI that lead to successful endeavors.

You will act as the cornerstone of IA, establishing the primary channel of communication between our innovation advising services and the various RTI business units that cater to essential government sectors like health, education, the environment, and energy. You will ensure that our innovative services are seamlessly woven into the fabric of the business development cycle from the start, making certain that our cutting-edge solutions are emphasized in discussions with government agencies. This role is a key element of our integrated "One RTI" strategy, aimed at magnifying RTI's beneficial impact and commitment to improving the human condition.

While the preference is that you are local to RTP and willing to work hybrid, remote options will be considered for those who are willing to travel to our RTP Headquarters on a monthly basis.

    Responsibilities

We are seeking candidates with skills and experience to fulfill the following job requirements:
    • Strategic Innovation Integration: Build strong collaborative relationships with leaders across RTI business units to seamlessly embed IA's innovation advising services into their offerings, enhancing the value proposition of proposals to government clients.
    • Business Development: Proactively engage with RTI business units early in the proposal process, ensuring value-adding innovation concepts are woven into RTI's solutions from inception.
    • Market and Innovation Insight: Conduct in-depth market intelligence analysis to grasp the evolving needs of government agencies, utilizing this insight to tailor the strategic integration of innovation services in a manner that addresses these needs effectively.
    • Championing Innovation Culture: Advocate passionately for the incorporation of innovation within the organization, emphasizing the adoption of best practices and methodologies developed by IA to drive growth, enhance efficiency, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across all engagements with government clients.
    • Government Business and Relationship Management: Oversee the maintenance and expansion of IA's government business and relationships, ensuring a parallel development of relationships across the broader RTI organization. This includes not only fostering and enhancing IA's own government connections but also strategically leveraging these relationships to support and amplify the business development efforts of other business units. The goal is to ensure a cohesive and unified approach to growing our presence and influence within government sectors, capitalizing on synergies between IA's innovation services and broader RTI offerings to maximize impact and drive mutual growth.
    What We Offer:

    • Dynamic and innovative work environment with a strong focus on growth and development.
    • Opportunities to lead high-impact initiatives that make a difference in the public sector.
    • Supportive culture that values diversity, collaboration, and personal growth.

    • At least 15 years of professional experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or a similar area is essential, particularly within a consultancy or advisory capacity that involves interaction with government agencies.
    • A well-documented history of successfully promoting teamwork among various business departments and spearheading key strategic projects.
    • A proven track record of effectively positioning for and obtaining contracts within government and / or private sector markets.
    • A history of identifying and cultivating new business ventures and alliances.
