    Afena Federal Credit Union in Marion Indiana is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join our team. Throughout our history, Afena has been dedicated to serving our community and today we remain committed to helping our members achieve their financial dreams. This role will support the financial management and operations of the Credit Union, The Electronic Services and Accounting Associate will be responsible for processing and maintaining ACH origination files and working exceptions. The person filling this position will also search and resolve ACH and compliance problems and discrepancies. Ensuring accuracy of related and other Credit Union data.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Takes lead in daily ACH postings, works exceptions and returns, balances file. Researches and resolves problems and discrepancies related to ACH activity. Provides internal and external service in regards to all ACH activity within member accounts. Monitors and reviews new Bill Pay enrollments. Processes home banking Stop Payments. Works IPay exceptions by the given deadline.
    • Monitors reports for accuracy and completeness including Automatic Share Transfer Exceptions. Monitors members accounts including new checking accounts for ODT record, below par/dormant accounts, closed/inactive bill pay accounts and verifies closed checking accounts with Active Data Debit report.
    • Accounting functions such as printing checks, file uploads from Avid to post payables to general ledger, posting general journal entries.
    • Initiates wire transfers between financial institutions.
    • Consistently and proactively promotes the Credit Union's culture.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

    • Six months to three years of ACH processing experience preferred.
    • A high school diploma or GED.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency with MS Office Suite including Excel, Outlook and Word.
    • Excellent analytical skills and people skills. Must maintain an honest, ethical, and professional manner including appropriate dress attire.
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in order to meet deadlines.
