Description
Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis.Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.
- Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
- Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
- Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
- Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
- Interacts with students and coworkers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
- Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.
All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction and meet faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.
Accounting Program Standard:
A qualified faculty member meets the program standard through one of four routes:
- Possesses an earned master's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in
- Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master's degree, from a regionally accredited
in accounting beyond the introductory principle(s) level; or
- Possesses an earned related or out-of-field master's degree, from a regionally accredited
- Professional certification (national, regional or state)
- Two years of infield professional employment
- Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award
- Documentation of research and publication in the field
- Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor's degree,
- Possesses an earned bachelor's degree in accounting, from a regionally accredited
- Professional certification (national, regional or state)
- Two years of infield professional employment
- Documented evidence of teaching excellence, including date of award
- Documentation of research and publication in the field
- Documented relevant additional coursework beyond the bachelor's degree,
- Possesses and earned Bachelor's degree in a related business field from a regionally
ACCT 090 Course Standard:
A qualified faculty member teaching ACCT 090 meets the course standard
through one of two routes:
- Meets Accounting program standard, or
- Possesses an earned bachelor's or higher degree in business, accounting or
ACCT 101, 102 Course Standard:
A qualified faculty member for ACCT 101 and ACCT 102 meets the course
standard
through one of two routes:
- Possesses an earned master's or higher degree in accounting, from a
- Possesses an earned master's degree in a related business field from a
semester hours in Accounting
